Fudge the Elf in Manchester Evening News

Post by klakadak-ploobadoof »

Hi, I recently picked up a copy of Manchester Evening News dated Thursday, August 14, 1952 because I was curious to see how Ken Reid's Fudge the Elf looked in its original newspaper form and context. For those of you who have not seen the strip in the newspaper but have seen the Fudge Books published by Savoy Books in 1981 I can tell that the newspaper panels were tiny - they were two times smaller than in Savoy reprints. The strip was at the bottom corner of the centre page (the paper was 16 pages then) and was the only one there. Here is the scan of the strip.
