I have bought every issue of this new Dr Who Adventures comic.I love the show and have been buying Dr Who Monthly in all of its formats since 1979.
I remember the early Dr Who weeklies where every issue was a revelation on the programmes past.I used to dream of what William Hartnell's episodes where actually like after reading the archive feature. Each issue was a revelation with lots of different features.
Is it me or does every issue of DR WHO adventures look the same as the previous edition? Hardly any variation on the cluttered cover montage. How many photos of Cybermen and Daleks and David Tennant staring in wild eyed excitement can we handle?
Granted, some of the free gifts are good.(Can you imagine a free TARDIS clock in 1979? They'd have sold a million copies!)
The free gift every week always arouses my curiosity to buy the next issue. Some parts of the comic are good. Some nice colourful artwork on the strips.Im also glad there are now nods to previous Doctors.
I see next weeks issue has a feature on Peter Davison's BLACK ORCHID story.Could we have ever dreamed as DR WHO fans even 4 years ago that a comic could be launched and be so successful its reached a 100 issues? No mean feat for any comic these days.
While there is a lot I feel could improve the comic I'm just glad that young children are still buying comics in significant quantities to ensure the longevity of our favourite medium.Maybe Im old school and this is the new direction for the style of comics?
Either way ,the fact that a new comic, regardless of it's high profile background has hit its century in such a short time, should be applauded!

Sadly there aren't as many new comics launched these days, but some still make it past 100 issues. Toxic and Spectacular Spider-Man both come to mind. Toxic features non-licensed characters, and Spec Spidey features all-new strips produced by UK talent, so they've both established themselves quite well.

Then of course there's also Doctor Who Magazine, which features 10 pages of strip material every issue and has clocked up over 400 issues!

Ahh but isn't Doctor Who Magazine an evolved version of a weekly comic itself?

That's right. It went monthly after the first year or so. It's been running since 1979.

Hmm. I'll hazard a guess and say that the mystery gift will be anything from the previous issues that they had left over in the warehouse?

I guess your right :D , I just bought another copy because I could feel it wasn't the notebook I got in my other copy, I thought they might contain all notebooks with different pictures on.
