Re: Spam postings
And I've just deleted it! Mwahahaha! While adverts are nice, I don't think any of us wish to read them on here...

Re: Spam postings
They're coming from what used to be our Red friends! This time, I got the IP and the user, not just the user!

Spammers are scum. If anyone has spam problems with email, I recommend Google Mail. I've not had one spam email since I signed up. Shame the same filters can't be used on message boards!

Another idiot spammer on the loose

Re: Spam postings
Was that the request for fan art? IIRC it involved sending stuff to an e-mail address and therefore revealing the private e-mail addys of the senders. I'm sure it's completely innocent but one has to be a bit wary, especially with anonymous sources.Digifiend wrote:He posted it in multiple sub-forums.

Re: Spam postings
Yeah, I saw it in at least two different places on the forum, but it's been flushed out. Quite rightly from what you say about the content.
Re: Spam postings
We have the option when deleting a user to either leave the posts, delete the posts, or delete the replies as well, which I assume Al or Colin did.

Re: Spam postings
We get these on the health-related forum that I run. They'll post vague stuff about how happy they are to be here, and have spammy links in their sig or profile I now check every single newbie's email address out because we have a lot of kids on that forum and I need to keep them as safe as possible. As a forum we do really well in that regard, and usually the spam is rubbish but harmless, though one guy was most persistent and when he found his posts weren't appearing to the public (I set them so only the mods could see them, so we could see what he was up to) he got enraged and posted the most appalling child porn.
There's a pretty obvious spammer who has just posted on Ruth's introduction thread, she's obviously not taken in by him though
