CAPTAIN SCARLET IS DESTRUCTIBLE... The recently-launched Captain Scarlet comic is no more, cancelled because of low sales. #6, on sale in a couple of months time will be the last issue, complete with free periscope.

Sorry to hear it's canned though. I thought the editor did a great job considering the restrictions.

I must admit I didn't see many copies in my local newsagents. Some shops even put it alongside partworks instead of by the comics for some reason! Lack of promotion must have been another reason.

A shame it's gone though. This will unfortunately reinforce the view amongst publishers that there's no market for boy's adventure comics.

Interesting that the Thunderbirds comic is still very popular, albeit aimed at a very young readership. Perhaps Scarlet fell between two stools; not quite young enoughto be a nursery comic but not quite literate enough to appeal to 8 year olds.

i thought that the thunderbirds could have been better done than it was. but it was probably aimed at kids as you say. shame it could not have been more like the late great frank bellamy. and the same with captain scarlet. from john britton.

A Thunderbirds comic with the same tone as TV21 would have been good to see, but I suppose Redan felt that pitching it at a younger readership would work. They seem to have made the right decision because it's been running for years now.

i totally agree with you on thunderbirds,maybe i am getting too old in the tooth, i would never put any artist's work down,i love all kinds of art.i loved a friend of mine who used to draw andy pandy for tv comic i think it was, i thought her art was fantastic, kind regards from john britton.
