Discuss or comment on anything relating to D.C.Thomson's second longest running comic. The home of Dennis the Menace. Has been running since 1938.

Dear Conor,

Thanks for the good wishes.

I'll still be involved with The Beano but not as directly as before. I've
just moved into my new office. It feels very strange after 28 years of
Beano involvement.

All the best.

Euan

That was the response to an email I sent him a few days ago.
It must be hard to settle in a new office after 28 years, it's hard for me to settle into a new school class after one year!!!

Don't get me wrong he's done a great job over the years but I hope the next Ed will make it more varied. The last few years have been very repeative.

Oldest trick in the book, I e-mailed Euan. Alan Digby, ex-Beezer editor and currently Beano Chief Sub, is taking over.

Yep, Alan Digby is the new editor on the Beano and congratulations to him on the appointment. Alan was chief sub on the Beano in the 1980s before moving on to edit the Beezer and then The Beezer and Topper. Since around 1993 he has been editor of DCT's Comic Projects department, working extensively on a wide range of projects including books, specials, The Broons & Oor Wullie, Beano & Dandy Fun-Sizes, advertising campaigns and an enormous number of other projects. He was also heavily involved in the scripting of the Dennis the Menace cartoon series. The Beano is in good hands.

Its interesting the work editors have done before........this really flavours a comic..........The Dandy with the different seasonal covers..wacky characters is a bit Sparky...Nutty now......with Morris as editor.

Brassneck..Klanky
My own genie...Mr Bubbles
Korky....Barney Bulldog
the office.......we are the sparky people
it is a bit similar. Enjoying the more wacky Dandy...

Will The Beano be more Beezer and Topper...? Look forward to what the new editor does...

Who is the editor of Classic Comics? I'd like to know what he/she thinks about possible changes to the format (some 'adventure' strips maybe... occasional 'whole' comic printed as a pullout .. maybe special anniversaries etc)...

It was Dave Torrie (ex-Dandy and Beezer editor), but he didn't have an e-mail address. Pm Classic Comics to find out ;)
