Plus, as an added bonus, it seems to confirm that another Harry Farrugia script was based on an original Wizard text story. The Last White Boy In Singapore was beautifully illustrated by Harry in the early years of the Victor and it would really be cool to find out that it is the same storyline in both cases. Confirmation by Phoenix or Kash that I have added 2+2 and made 4 would be appreciated!
I'm currently unable to access my notes, Colin, but I am certain that the serial in The Victor is a picture repeat of a text story with the same title. However, it was in Adventure, not The Wizard.

Living in Barnsley (I may as well live in the victorian age) there is more chance of me getting hold of rocking horse shite than a copy of 'Crikey' or any decent comics beyond the ones ASDA supplies, but luckily I am in London this week and so have been able to go nuts buy and see some things out of the ordinary.

I bought Crikey 1 and 11 from the Cartoon Museum (which seems to keep back issues of them such as Tavelling Man, Forbidden Planet and other retailers) I have often seen it and never bought it (before reading what people had to say here earlier) and after taking the plunge I would urge others to buy it as it will feed your brains with delicious comicy information.

I also got hold of Brian Talbots Grandville (Another must have) and the 30th Anniversary of Viz.

Phoenix, that's great. And it was my error to put The Wizard not Alan's especially as along the top of the extract is Adventure in a very large font!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

:offtopic1: At least we both understand what a font is, Colin. There were at least four assistants in computer shops in Tottenham Court Road this afternoon who didn't appear ever to have heard the word, three of them in one shop. I gave up! Is there perhaps somebody on this forum who could help? I am looking for ITC Officina Sans Book. Somehow I lost it when my hard drive started playing up and I had to buy a new one. Now when I put a page on screen previously written using that font, the system tells me that it doesn't recognise it and needs to replace it. I have managed to download Officina Sans ITC Book as a temporary alternative, but although it takes up almost exactly the same amount of space on any one line, its presentation is disappointingly different. I think the company may have retired the version I need. Any help appreciated, needless to say. :offtopic2:

On topic now, some members may like to know that Borders in Charing Cross Road has only four copies of Crikey! 11 left. I actually went in assuming that I would be able to come out with Crikey! 12 but they hadn't taken delivery of it. I thought it was due to emerge every two months with issue 13 expected around Christmas. I must have got my wires crossed somewhere. To be honest, I didn't buy anything comic-related today. I did look at an early Judy annual in Any Amount Of Books but it was a bit pricy, and there were a number of bound volumes of Chums on a stall in the book fair at the Royal National Hotel, but at £35 a pop I gave them a miss as well. Maybe I shouldn't have bothered going out at all.

I forgot all about that show. I thought it was next week for some reason. Were there any other UK comics there such as Funny Wonder, Radio Fun, Chips, etc? If so, were they in a decent condition and reasonably priced?

Don't go bashing your head against the wall for forgetting it, Lew. There was nothing there that would have interested you. Check your dates again because I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if you do have the right date in your diary. My plan seemed very simple, come down for a week and stay with my elder son who lives and works here. I could have chosen any week for my visit but I chose this because I thought there was a cigarette card fair with ninety dealers in that hotel today. I soon discovered that it was a postcard fair with just the one dealer selling what I was looking for - Thomsons' free gifts - and he hadn't brought many because he sells postcards as well. I got two cards only but he has promised to take everything he has to a fair in Chester in about the third week of November for me to have a good rummage through. I really only went to the bookfair because I was so disappointed with the card fair, and it was in the other half of the same building. I've been to many a bookfair in my life so I do know what to expect. This wasn't one of those. It called itself a Maps, Books and Ephemera Fair. There were a lot of maps, which didn't interest me, a reasonable amount of ephemera, the more interesting items costing an arm and a leg, and a few books, mainly antiquarian, again at silly prices. Just to give you an idea, there was a series of bound volumes of John Bull in really quite reasonable condition - the two for 1948 were £350 each. Apart from the Chums volumes, I didn't see a single comic all day, and what's more, many of the bookshelves were largely unencumbered. I did see some old advertising at prices ranging from £450 to £750 as I was leaving.............

Yes, I was mixing it up with the ABC show which is at the same venue next Sunday. Doubt I'll be able to make it though as I already have one trip to London planned that week.

Found it, but I'm afraid it isn't free. £170 for all the ITC Officina Sans fonts, including the Book one you need. http://www.fonts.com/findfonts/detail.htm?pid=242800

Received three issues of WHAM! today and completed my collection of Frankie Stein strips by Ken Reid! Ordered them from a dealer in FN condition at £3 each. Now I am just three issues away from the complete run of WHAM. I am after issue Nos. 1, 2 and 187 (last one). I know it's pointless to ask, but would anyone here want to sell their copies/spares?
By the way, I am not experiencing any problems due to postal strikes - I am in mainland Europe, and my packages keep arriving with no delay at all (sent from the UK last week)!

That's because they were sent before the strikes started - if you're expecting anything from the UK in the next couple of weeks, expect delays.

Just picked up 5 'Vulcans' including the last one April 3rd 1976 for £8, it seemed quite a high price until I thought "Hmmm I pay £2.10p for Dr Who Adventrues" so they were a bargain at £1.60p each.

Thanks, Digi, for going to all the trouble of unearthing them. I'll have to wait until I get home tomorrow to print off some samples of the Book font that you have found so I can compare them with the font I've lost and its temporary replacement that I'm having to put up with. I will get back to you.

I tend to use DAFONT.COM I think thats the right address, last thing I did was my 'deadline' cover and text. I use it whenever I need a good font, not that it will have what you are after unfortunatly if its a proffessional font

As a devoted Cheeky Weekly reader in its day, the Frank McDiarmid interview is the biggest pull for me in this issue.
