DANDY Annual 2010 - all comic strip, all new!
For everyone bemoaning Dandy Xtreme, especially those who have never bought it, get this year's DANDY Annual which is 100 per cent exactly as you would wish it to be - including Jamie Smart's Dan, Chris McGhie's Bananaman and Korky the Cat, and lots and lots of other stuff.
Don't be coming on here in January whining because you couldn't get one, it's All Comic Strip, there's a copy waiting for you in the shops now!
(I don't get a commission, I just think it would be a shame if a comics fan missed out on it.)

I'll be getting it, I always do, but has it really got to the stage where it's so out of the public consciousness that they actually need a blurb on the back telling you it features old favourites like Dan and newer stars like Jak? Since when do comic annuals need a blurb anyway?
Re: DANDY Annual 2010 - all comic strip, all new!
Yes there is a small blurb but I think they could do with a big advertising push in the Beano and Peoples Friend and everywhere they can.

I think you're nitpicking a bit there Digi as it's hardly going to spoil your enjoyment of the book. Lots of annuals have featured blurbs on the cover and, unlike this year's Dandy Annual, most were not discreetly reserved for the back cover. Four examples:Digifiend wrote:I'll be getting it, I always do, but has it really got to the stage where it's so out of the public consciousness that they actually need a blurb on the back telling you it features old favourites like Dan and newer stars like Jak? Nice annuals there, Lew! It must be nearly The Season to Be Jolly!

All those covers were from the Comics UK annuals gallery. (But not hotlinked.
) Al has a great selection up there.

Except that it's not all-new. At least I don't think it is. A couple of the lads in the class I teach were saying that they'd seen some of the stories before.
Re: DANDY Annual 2010 - all comic strip, all new!
Maybe the scripts have been reused? This has happened at least a couple of times before, when early 2000s Dandy Annuals featured redrawn 1970s Winker Watson strips. They were redrawn to update the art style and remove the cane.
A quick flick through in the shops hasn't turned up any "that looks familar" thoughts for me, and there's no way anything recent (less than about 7 years old) would be reused anyway.

As far as I'm aware there's no re-print or recycled scripts in there.
Craig and his team should be congratulated. The Dandy Annual is exactly what an annual should be - a real treat. Great artwork and fun stories all the way through!

Rambling Sid, so you don't think it is all new? Not to worry, I KNOW it IS all-new. I believe I even pointed out this fact in the title; everyone involved in this DANDY annual, myself included, have worked very hard on it, and it IS all-new, whatever the 'lads in the class' you teach might say. Any questions?.RamblingSid wrote:Except that it's not all-new. At least I don't think it is. A couple of the lads in the class I teach were saying that they'd seen some of the stories before.

Probably not, as you mention Hitler on a regular basis and use one of his quotes as an "amusing" sig so we've come to expect such posts from you.ISPYSHHHGUY wrote:

This annual wonderfully highlights why I love Jamie Smart.
Two of the Beryl strips were reprinted from last year. (The one where she tries to get tall, the other when she goes to the zoo.)RamblingSid wrote:Except that it's not all-new.
