Re: What comics did you buy today?
Depending on its condition, the 1940 Radio Fun Annual could be worth that alone.

It came from a 1987 Eagle.Digifiend wrote:lol, he's joking of course. What's that advert really from?

Went to Deptford flea market as usual, picked up six issues of Titbits from 1977. Also picked up this Marvel annual from 1969 for £2. It is full colour throughout and actually has a couple of golden age stories featuring Captain America (John Romita art) and Sub Mariner.

I have a copy of this! Great little book; I got mine from a place in Cambridge several years ago, along with the 'Marvel Storybook Annual' from around the same period.stevezodiac wrote:Went to Deptford flea market as usual, picked up six issues of Titbits from 1977. So jealous, I love Romita (seniors) Cap America strips some of the best comics ever IMHO - got a couple Cap America Romita originals and they are brilliant. Wish I had that book though!!!

Went to a very wet boot sale this lunchtime and came back with the 1980 and 1982 Cheeky Annuals. Very nice finds, but I'm still trying to dry myself out...

Any interesting reprints - old adventure strips, maybe? - or worthwhile (then) new special one-off strips in those?
Re: What comics did you buy today?
I usually try to concentrate on collecting 1960s Annuals, but seeing as they were only 99p each I came back from a local charity shop today with the 1972,3,4 & 5 Dandy Annuals, the 1956 Radio Fun Annual, the 1977 Dr Who Annual, the 1970 Hurricane Annual, the 1979 Action Annual, the 1976 Smash Annual and the 1971 Rupert Annual (not to mention a really nice edition of Hamlet for £2).
Unfortunately I'd already spent far too much on old comics at the NEC yesterday...!

Shame you didn't drop by the Comics City table Phil. Half a dozen of us were there doing sketches. Sadly the Memorabilia Shows are mostly about merchandise now and I only noticed a few tables selling comics when I had a brief walk around the hall.philcom55 wrote:

Sorry I didn't speak to you Lew, but you seemed quite busy when I passed your spot. I agree that there aren't anything like as many comic dealers at Memorabilia these days, but this actually worked to my advantage on Saturday as nobody else seemed to have any interest in the genuine comics-related bargains that were to be found - usually in cardboard boxes hidden under tables weighed down with action-figures and talking daleks...!

Nothing notable in that department, but a lot of McDiarmidy goodness all the same. Cheered me up, anyway (well, the one I've read so far; another still to go).Raven wrote:tony ingram wrote:Went to a very wet boot sale this lunchtime and came back with the 1980 and 1982 Cheeky Annuals.
