Encouraged by Mum to get rid of some of my comics...I was a mid teenager and so kept all my old comics and got rid of everything from above 1982...including my Beano's..they all went to a kid down the road..

anyway now I have my own flat I have even more comics than ever.and still Mum insists I'd sell some..
my wife is very understanding and as long as I'm fairly tidy I'm alright..

Do mums ever change...they are very practical..

This Funny Monthly features a reprinted 70s Buster cover - any ideas which year?

These December Funny Monthlies are great - every strip is a Christmas one (apart from one page which is a 'stitched-on' page - you know, when they run two strips of one character back-to-back, and introduce the second page with a pasted-on caption, 'next day Chalky was out with his pals' and resize the panels to compensate for the missing title frame)

The Christmas issue of Topper & Sparky for 1978:


- It's interesting how many Sparky characters were still around as a result of the 'mini comic' format. IPC had tried something similar for a few weeks when Valiant and Vulcan merged in 1976 but can anyone think of earlier occasions on which this idea was used?

Thanks to my recent trip to the ephemera fair here are some Christmas covers of the more vintage variety. A couple are slightly larger than A4 so are missing a bit around the edges (aren't we all?) sadly most of my acquisitions were the tabloid size so cannot be scanned.













































For some reason the last three images are missing a bit at the bottom. The tinypic image shows the full picture so no idea what the problem is. Re submitted them a couple of times but same result-even tried a seperate new posting.

OK I have reconfigured those images into message board format and, by diverting power from the shields, have managed to now post them in full image mode. Geordie La Forge eat your heart out!

What an amazing Christmas covers overdose..thanks so much..

The Biffo one where he wears the stocking to keep warm is great...I have that one..
interesting the chimney is bricked up..Father Christmas can do anything..

Also funny the Smiler ones on Knockout had the same idea of two Santas..

Love the rescuing of Father Christmas from the fire and the toys..
and the mad turkey chasing him..

Also the Sparky one was fun with all the characters on the cover..

Fantastic, Steve! I've never seen any of those before. Not even the two Beanos. I see the Mickey Mouse one says Every Other Friday. I wonder why other comics don't use that convention? Most other wartime comics don't say what day they come out on (probably because it was unreliable - the Beano and Dandy for example both changed release days after the war) and the modern day Dandy just says Every Fortnight, rather than Every Other Thursday.
