Re: Buster Special 2009
Been checking Smiths in Ipswich regularly. No sign of a single copy and the staff don't know what I'm talking about.

Re: Buster Special 2009
Further copies spotted today in Chelmsford -a good dozen or so around the kids comics - meantto check whilst I was in Southend this afternoon, but didn't get a chance.
In the New Year I'll speak to Egmont again and see if there are other ways of getting hold of it for those of you still struggling.

Re: Buster Special 2009
It really is a shambles isn't it? As Smiths have proven to be so unreliable I hope next time any "exclusive" idea comes up that publishers will go with a different retail giant. Having said that, the "exclusive" issue of The DFC didn't reach my local Tesco so perhaps the whole concept is pointless.tony ingram wrote:Been checking Smiths in Ipswich regularly. There has to be a new way of distributing comics to readers that reduces or obliterates using the uncaring "middlemen".

Re: Buster Special 2009
Maybe my Buster isn't as good as I thought it was I have 8 dublicate pages.
Re: Buster Special 2009
So to add to my report above about copies with 20 missing pages and others with reversed covers and 20 missing pages, there are also rogue copies out there with 8 duplicated pages ...
How could so many printing mistakes happen?
This is definitely an item to check through before you pay for it (if you can find it).

Re: Buster Special 2009
Well, I've had a partial success with this today, I managed to pick up a copy at the Waterloo Station branch (many thanks to bustercomic for the heads up!) only to find the first and last few pages are duplicated, aarrgh!, I'm not gonna spend any more time on trying to source a decent copy, I'll probably just wait till Egmont are selling it and order another one from them.

Re: Buster Special 2009
This really has been a shocking exerise in publishing - lateness, cronic (in some cases no) distribution, poor racking of titles with them all over the place when the book is in the shops (ie Battle under "Guns and Ammo" etc), now missing and duplicated pages! total amateur stuff and a waste of a good opportunity at Xmas time to shift a few copies. I still want it though!
Re: Buster Special 2009
Oh dear I should have read it propably, those 8 pages of course would have made it 16 dublicate pages which it has.

Re: Buster Special 2009
Found it! In Cambridge Smiths, which had loads of them. Didn't notice any duplicated pages either.
It's not with the "childrens" comics (Beano, Dandy, Commando, Classics and all the lame tie-in rubbish, at chest height for an adult), but with the "Adult" comics (Superheroes, 2000AD, Classics Illustrated etc, which are at floor height).

The pages listed in red are correct, it's the other copies of those pages which are wrong. The half page on 51 is a continuation of the Kid Kong story.steelclaw wrote:Oh dear I should have read it propably, those 8 pages of course would have made it 16 dublicate pages which it has.

And Smiths will then fine Egmont for the trouble, - but I can understand the situation.Raven wrote:django wrote:Well, I've had a partial success with this today, I managed to pick up a copy at the Waterloo Station branch (many thanks to bustercomic for the heads up!) only to find the first and last few pages are duplicated, aarrgh!, I'm not gonna spend any more time on trying to source a decent copy, I'll probably just wait till Egmont are selling it and order another one from them.

Re: Buster Special 2009
No it's not. The comic ends with a Blarney Bluffer page and a half! It's the first 16 page "signature" that is incorrect (ie: first inner 8 pages and corresponding last inner 8 pages).Digifiend wrote:The pages listed in red are correct, it's the other copies of those pages which are wrong. A 48 page comic is made up of three 16 page signatures (or parts). steelclaw's copy has a duplicate of the second signature in place of the first signature.
Here's how the end of the comic it should look:
