TURF New comic from Jonathan Ross
I saw this in today's issue of Short List (a freebie magazine). Nice artwork.

Hmm.. could be interesting. Mainly because i like the twenties anyway.
He did another show more recently called Asian Invasion (i bet the BNP qeued up when they heard the name and got pretty dissapointed), which showcased some really wierd things like the North Korean "Godzilla". So there ought to be some nice wierdness in this.

And to think I just suggested to Kev the other day that JR should do this.

I wonder what Dave Stevens would have made of it, sadly missed.

Re: TURF New comic from Jonathan Ross
This has been on the cards for ages (as you can see, the art's already done) but I think it's the first time it's been announced outside of the comics press.
Time will tell if it works. Being a tv presenter/writer doesn't necessarily mean he can write a decent comic script, but hopefully he's learned a thing or two from the thousands of comics he's collected.

This is, probably, a very dangerous departure for Mr. Ross. Should he really be writing about wum wunners?

As long as WOSS doesn't appear in caricatured form [other than a one-frame cameo] then this is fine by me, and release this venture by all means.
I have every sympathy with those who are refusing to pay the BBC license fee 'til Johnboy departs [ his grotesque fee was the main reason I gave to the licence folks as to why I don't watch TV at home].

At least it looks better than that EC-type horror story he wrote and drew during the 1980s! (Deadline? Heartbreak Soup?? - something like that anyway)

The license fee didn't go up to pay Jonathan Ross, and it certainly won't come down now he's leaving. I for one hope he can continue to make shows like the one he did to bring Steve Ditko's work to public attention.ISPYSHHHGUY wrote:As long as WOSS doesn't appear in caricatured form [other than a one-frame cameo] then this is fine by me, and release this venture by all means.

Whatever you think of Wossy, his unbridled enthusiasm for and love of comics has to count for something. The sheer joy he radiated on that show when he turned to the camera and declared 'Ive just been told to f*** off by Steve Ditko!' was a heart warming moment, i felt.Lew Stringer wrote: The license fee didn't go up to pay Jonathan Ross, and it certainly won't come down now he's leaving. Anyone see Phil Jupitus's strip in the QI annual?Time will tell if it works. Being a tv presenter/writer doesn't necessarily mean he can write a decent comic script, but hopefully he's learned a thing or two from the thousands of comics he's collected.

Re: TURF New comic from Jonathan Ross
the twelve million quid to pay WOSS must have come from somewhere, however, as I don't watch telly [I've been to the cinema a whopping 5 times this week......and not a whiff of WOSS........yet] I'm not paying for it, so it doesn't affect me either way. Those who are refusing to buy a TV licence til Johnboy departs are doing so out of principal and protest, rather than expecting the fee to go down [it won't].
I just have a chemical dislike to the boy WOSS, his perceived smugness is not for every taste, and my life is happier since I never see the geezer at all now.
He speaks very highly of ME, I understand......
SATIRE......SATIRE....SATIRE..........

Phill Jupitus draws comics quite frequently

I think he used to do it prefessionally, not too sure
