Footballing dream teams

Post by Jonny Whizz »

If you could pick an all time best XI (and subs!) for your favourite football team(s), who would you select? Here's mine:

LIVERPOOL
Ray Clemence

Phil Neal Alan Hansen Emlyn Hughes (C) Mark Lawrenson

Billy Liddell Steven Gerrard Graeme Souness John Barnes

Kenny Dalglish Ian Rush

Subs: Elisha Scott, Ron Yeats, Chris Lawler, Ian Callaghan, Terry McDermott, Kevin Keegan, Roger Hunt

WEST HAM
Phil Parkes

Alvin Martin Bobby Moore (C) Billy Bonds Frank Lampard Snr.

Alan Devonshire Trevor Brooking Martin Peters

Paolo di Canio Geoff Hurst Vic Watson

Subs: David James, Ray Stewart, Rio Ferdinand, Len Goulden, Jimmy Ruffell, Frank McAvennie, Tony Cottee

I'm not quite so certain on a Tranmere XI, although I support them I'm only really familiar with their relatively recent history (most of my football history books are on Liverpool or the Premiership).

Chris, I would never have pegged you as a Caley fan in a million years!

As for me, I think the 83/84 Forfar Athletic team were the best we ever had. I was at the match when Forfar clinched promotion to the old style First Division. Glory days indeed!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I'm always on CaleyThistleOnline.

Forfar. Boy, that's a cold ground. Not that the Moray Firth warms the TCS up much mind you. But what a spectacular ground we've got. If the game's boring, just turn round and watch the dolphins!

An all-time England team now:

STARTING XI
1. Gordon Banks (Goalkeeper)
2. Duncan Edwards (Right-Back)
3. Stuart Pearce (Left-Back)
4. Bryan Robson (Centre Midfield)
5. Billy Wright (Centre-Back)
6. Bobby Moore (Captain) (Centre-Back)
7. Stanley Matthew (Right-Winger)
8. Bobby Charlton (Centre Midfield)
9. William 'Dixie' Dean (Striker)
10. Gary Lineker (Striker)
11. Tom Finney (Left-Winger)
SUBS
Peter Shilton
Roger Byrne
Sol Campbell
Martin Peters
David Beckham
Alan Shearer
Jimmy Greaves

Probably still not good enough to beat Germany.
