It is hard to get the balance right of a anthromorphic character..
Not too human not too animal..
Todays characters on ceral boxes are too human and bland not much expression..

the meercat.com advert doesn't work for me as it doesn't have much expression...movement..and the fur makes it look to like an animal..
Its a very mixed up anthromorphic character..its not the right mix for me..
But amazingly loads of people love him.my Meercat drawing (poster and cards) is the most popular at the craft fair and they are always going on about the advert!!
When I went to Chester Zoo for my birthday last year, there was quite a large crowd at the meerkat exhibit, which had always been fairly quiet though nonetheless entertaining to watch (anyone who has ever seen them will know what I mean). The people were all making the 'simples' sound from the advert. They will definitely have seen the advert, it's in a corner of the zoo where not many people would go otherwise and the meerkats weren't a major attraction before then.

Those are American boxes, and the Cocoa Krispies one isn't the present day Coco Monkey character. Both cereals have different names here (Frosties and Coco Pops) so I wonder if the UK box art was different?
I assume Bar Six's name refers to it's 6d price. It says it's a wafer, i.e. a KitKat clone, so I think that's part of the Cadbury Snack range nowadays, although it was more than likely discontinued at one point and relaunched under the new name. Heinz hasn't changed much over the years I see. The Heinz products are the only ones I recognise, although I've not seen that specific packaging before.
Those Lord Toffingham lollies were tasty - the King Kong lolly looks like a variation on the same recipe. Off topic, but is King Kong with the giant ape image subject to copyright?
Sherbert Fountains are nice (if a bit messy) but I never knew there used to be a Jaffa version. I can just about remember the Weetabix characters though - but for some reason they remind me of Spongebob Squarepants now!
The Jaffa Sherbet Fountain was introduced after my own childhood days. In fact it was another of those endless variants to traditional brands that had Inspector Raymond Fowler in 'The Thin Blue Line' once proclaim that a sure sign of British society's slide towards decadent habits could be summed up by the arrival of 'An almond Mars Bar!'
And, as I recall Digi, Cadbury's Bar Six got its name because it was segmented into six sections rather than anything to do with the price.
