As I wasn't involved in the project at the outset I can't really answer your question of precisely how long it took to get the book from the ideas stage to publication. My bit took about two weeks to put together, bearing in mind that the notes I produced it from already existed. The format and general contents of the book were certainly decided by February though.
As to other books I suppose it always depends on the success of what is published previously. And Black Bob was always a good candidate for a celebratory volume as the format and style could be lifted directly from the Black Bob books that had appeared in the past.

You may have to keep hoping a little while longer Peter. Ron Grossett, who is putting the volume together, has had a few difficulties synchronizing the text with the art panels as, when originally printed, art and text were often confusingly out of step with each other, and he has tried to rectify this.

Last I heard (as of Tuesday) is it's with the printers, and only a few weeks from publication.

Meanwhile to keep you occupied here is a question from the "You Ask We Answer" page in today's Weekly News. One for the stats compliers.

The finishing date for the Black Bob strip in the Weekly News is wrong, which is a surprise given that it's the Weekly News editorial team who are supplying the answer.

You don't need both dates, Digi. Kashgar is clearly saying that the starting date is correct.

Yeah, I've seen that. There's also a mug, journal, and a couple of other items with 1980-81 Beano covers on them. :)

My other half who has already ordered it says it isn't available until the end of July.

Hi guys/gals.

Long time lurker, first time poster here. :)

I've been following this thread since I read about this book on Lew's blog & thought I'd let you know that my copy arrived today from bookdepository.co.uk. (I ordered it on Saturday 12 June for £8.85) It's still showing in stock & it's dropped to £7.30 now. Hope that helps everyone.

Well then clearly it is out. Wilsia and SID, get onto those retailers' backs. Not out until July/August? They're obviously not telling the truth.
