I for one will look out for it,.Reg was a great artist I loved the strips he done for Cor! ie Ivor Lott & Tony Broke,Hire a horror,Freddie Fang etc.
His style was so simple but distinctive and you always knew when another artist was standing in for him as the strip wasnt the same.

Reg Parlett really was incredible!
There must be people in their early twenties reading this who grew up with the Buster's Diary strips he continued to draw throughout the 1980s.
There must be many others like Wilsia who grew up in the 1970s with an inexhaustible parade of Parlett characters like Ivor Lott & Tony Broke in Cor and then Buster.
There are even old fogeys like me (now in my fifties) and my brother (pushing sixty) who were lucky enough to grow up with classic Parlett creations such as Billy Bunter, Fidosaurus, Dr. What, Mowser and The Crows during the 1950s and 1960s!
But it isn't even this that makes Reg Parlett so incredible...
...The thing that really makes Reg Parlett so incredible is that my late father actually remembered growing up with his strips - for titles like Funny Wonder and Jester during the 1920s and 1930s!!!!

Yes, a true comic master. Reg had a perfect humour comic style; clear, funny, and consistent. Saying someone's strips were a pleasure to read has become a clich? but in his case it's completely suitable. His style was friendly and warm, and over his 50 plus year career he must have entertained literally millions of kids. An achievement to be proud of.

Yeah Reg Parlett was really a master- he is one of those artists that everytime I see his art it takes me back and gives me a nice feeling (a childhood memory feeling nothing else!!! - similar to Reid, Baxendale and Watkins) - I loved his Mowser strip as well as the Crows (and Harrys Haunted House / The Hands etc mini classics) - one of my favs was a strip in the Buster called (now think this is correct) the Happy (or Nice) family - honest a great strip I only can't remember as I'm getting old ( was reading him in mid 60's 70's - I ve never read Dr What sounds interesting - I didn't realise his brother also drew comics.

I also have the Big comic special of Reg Parletts work.......I hope Classics of the comics will have special issues in the future as well. Imagine an issue to Dudley D Watkins.....or Tom Paterson..Robert Nixon..etc..

I must admit judging by the expertise and encyclopediac recall of some posters on this forum that I am somewhat of a novice re artists styles. The only two artists whose work I can immediately recognise is Carlos Esquerra and Ron Smith!Perhaps, pardon the pun and maybe even in deference to the pun,I should stay in more often! Now if only the writers were as celebrated !
