Favourite characters/stories in girl's comics

Discuss all the girls comics that have appeared over the years. Excellent titles like Bunty, Misty, Spellbound, Tammy and June, amongst many others, can all be remembered here.

I was pretty curious about that Lucky Charm about Catch the Cat. I thought it was the Cat Girl character from the Sally comicsat least it looks the same in the cover. Anybody have a scan of some of the pages?
Thanks. (mm... I'm new here, I introduced myself on the general comic section).

Hi Ruth, welcome to Comics UK!

In answer to your request here's a page from Bunty's 'Catch the Cat! ', which featured the wartime adventures of Marie Bonnet in occupied France:

Whereas this is Sally's modern-day superheroine 'Cat Girl', whose magical costume enabled her to fight crime:

Neither of whom should be confused with this cat-burglar in Sandie's 'Nat the Cat' of course - or with Nat himself, who really was a cat!

...Simples! :)

- Phil Rushton

(Is anyone prepared to speculate on the respective artists by the way? For what it's worth the third one looks very much like the late José Casanovas to me)

That is so cool! That Catch The Cat seems to be drawn by a different artist to the one I'm used to (who I think was Robert MacGillivray but I'll have to check).

...Come to think of it here's yet another variation on the 'cat girl' theme from a 1983 issue of Bunty: they certainly seem to have liked them! (And would I be right in seeing it as more work from the brush of Mystery Artist No.3 I wonder? )

CAt Girl was done by Giorgio Giorgetti. I did an article about it here:

The third one I know who he is (he did many works in Spain) but I am at work now and can't check it (can't remember his name, too early), maybe in a break later.

I'm afraid that I'm pretty sure The Claws of Clara isn't by Mystery Artist #3. I've seen work by the same artist around though so I'll try to collect it together so we can have a Mystery Artist #4 thread :)

(edited, originally said Cat Girl instead of the Claws of Clara by mistake)

Tonibunny, Cat Girl is by Giorgio Giorgetti. Of that I am pretty sure. It took me two years to find out but I was told by someone who had access to the originals. Cat Girl (CAthy) was drawn by Giorgio Giorgetti.

Sorry Ruth, I meant to say The Claws of Clara, not Cat Girl there :) It's too early in the morning, my brain hasn't kicked in yet! :D

Yes, confirmed: the last one (Nat's) is José Casanovas.

If anyone wants some translation relating the comic posts from my blog or any info, please do not hesitate in asking me, I will be more than pleased. And actually I might use some of the images above if you don't mind to illustrate an article about the Cat Girl for October Magazine Foroesther. And I offer those pages to you if you want to write any article about comic artists or characters (preferably the ones in girl comics). I will then translated and publish them in our online magazine.
