My "Gramma Gripe" is a person in work who abbreviates the word please to pls in e-mails. And I always write text messages in full english. I have heard radio presenters give up halfway through a text sent in by a listener because they can't read it properly. Speaking of which why do callers to phone-ins when introduced with "We're coming up to the news so make it brief Colin of Hemel Hempstead" then say "Hello, how are you?" Reminds me of that Monty Python phone-in sketch which I won't go into right now.

Sometimes on Five Live or LBC they ask for your rants - what winds you up? And I text in with people at the supermarket checkout who drop their basket so the handle falls across the middle thereby preventing you from dropping yours inside it. I've lost count of the number of times I've diligently tidied up the unruly pile of baskets that no other lazy sod could be bothered with. On the Frost Report they were called Pet Peeves. "Send your peeves on a postcard" being about 11 at the time I never knew what a peeve was. Used to watch it after the Man from UNCLE and Top of The Pops on Thursday nights. To this day I still carry a home made UNCLE ID card with me.

I decided to take a leaf out of Rab's book and sex up decimalization. However, I decided to go the whole hog and do the job properly, so I ended up with zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I'd only just finished when I realised I'd fallen asleep. :D
