Maybe it's not summer special #1, but simply Beano Special #1 (like the seasonal specials they were doing before BeanoMAX launched, which included the last few summer specials) - looks like we may have a replacement for Classics! What's the price?

Well that certianly is unexpected!

I suspect number 2 won't be until next year, mind.

For once, a comic publication that has grabbed my interest...I'll be looking into this one.

Makes me feel so old to recognize some of this artwork.

Didn't see this in my local Smiths when I popped in earlier today, hope it'll be available round here...not like the Egmont Buster Special a couple of years ago where I had to do a lot of searching before I found it!.

Good find Peter! I didn't know about this.

So much for what I'd been told about retailers not wanting summer specials any more then.

None in my Smiths yet though.

Well as it's an exclusive I suppose retailers didn't

It may be in the "bookazine" format as a "best of" nostalgic collection rather than an actual summer special. Those sorts of publications are made on all sorts of subjects (best modified Fords, best air guns, Battle of Britain aircraft etc) and seem to sell well.

Good grief, I didn't expect that!

Five quid? Eh... it's cheaper than the Summer Annual and I probably don't already own most of the content! :)

Must have a look for this tomorrow in the same Smiths that failed to stock the Annual last week...

So, has there been no publicity at all, then? Or is Peter in the pay of a secret viral marketing cabal? :D :shhh:

The cover is wonderful. Looks like I'll be popping into WHSmiths a few times a week only to be disappointed and then just buy the thing off ebay.

The fact it's 'No 1' is very curious. Perhaps we'll have another next summer or maybe a No 2 in December reprinting Christmas stories?

Or perhaps it's just an incentive to get collectors and speculators to buy a No.1?

It was found in the comic section in WHSmiths..in Kingston..

Hope you all find it...as someone said at least this time I'm first after the Buster special difficulty..which I really hope will come back..
