Re: Doctor Who 2011
I would ask Lew Stringer, once again,- Kindly please do not make references to my posts please! That is all I would like please.
Others on this thread have very kindly helped me to understand and follow those Dr Who episodes via supplying me with helpful advise as i'm slow on the uptake! I did not find your comment thus at all! I have avoided any conflict with Lewis since our `spat` a few months ago-and hoped Lewis would do the same!
I have got on superbly with other members on this site and found their comments and advise most helpful indeed! I ask you once more Lewis-please, please, leave me alone! Now I do hope this will be an end to this. I trust you can accommodate me here please.

Re: Doctor Who 2011
Alan, you put questions to the forum about Doctor Who. I was one of the people who politely obliged you with an answer. Are you saying you now find any reply from me to be an attack?alanultron5 wrote:I would ask Lew Stringer, once again,- Kindly please do not make references to my posts please! If for whatever reason you have a personal problem with me either take it to private message or tell me face to face at a Birmingham comic mart sometime. Please don't play the victim for the benefit of the crowd as no one's interested.

Play nicely. I really have got to stop reading the Sparhawk books.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I refer the honourable gentlemen to my reply some moments ago. Do that and you will never read Lew again (not that I've done that to Lew. Others? Well, you can only take so much).alanultron5 wrote:I would ask Lew Stringer, once again,- Kindly please do not make references to my posts please! That is all I would like please.

Alan you're being completely wrong-headed about this and sending me private messages telling me not to post on the forum isn't what Chris (not "Chrissie" by the way) suggested at all.alanultron5 wrote:Thanks Chrissie! Yes! I'll do a P.M As I said earlier-everyone else here, I get on great with.
As you said you wouldn't read my PM replies I'm responding to you here:
I'm not happy about your implication that I'm bullying you. Perhaps you misunderstood. When I said "Why not watch it?" I was referring to Doctor Who, not threatening you! I was simply curious that as were obviously very interested in the show it'd surely be better to watch the programme? It's a good show, worth watching.
When I replied "We don't know yet" perhaps it read as more abrupt than intended? Thing is, we simply don't know what caused the TARDIS to explode yet. Perhaps we'll find out later this year.
Yes, we disagreed about the merits of an I-Spy strip ages ago but as far as I'm concerned that's done and dusted. I certainly don't bear any grudge over such a trivial thing so please don't see it as "picking" on you if I post in a topic you've contributed to.
Now let's just enjoy comics and daft TV eh?

Definitely not. What do you think? Will there be a bigger cliffhanger tonight?Digifiend wrote: What a twist at the end of today's episode! Did anyone see that coming?

I think I already guessed it. SPOILER (probably): I hear that the baby is called Melody Pond... Melody is a song, river and pond are both water... Amy is River's mother!

Spoiler unless you've seen it now
Well well well..
That baby clone was very clever!!!!!!!
I thought for a minute it was the Doctors mother..But you were right Digi..
I wonder if River will have a relationship with the Doctor..or become the new assistant in the future..
Stephen Fry book spoiler on Hitler...
The title for the next episode killing Hitler..sounds like lots of questions.I've read Stephen Frys book on this topic and it doesn't work out well..a new more effective person takes over wonder if that is the result

Stephen Fry was going to write an episode at one point, wasn't he?Peter Gray wrote:Spoiler unless you've seen it now

Re: Doctor Who 2011
Standard sci-fi plot - a lot of different angles that could be taken. Try Philip K Dick's 'Man In The High Castle' for a particularly good tale.

Re: Doctor Who 2011
Cliffhangers all through this half of the series and when it returns in September. Steven Moffat wants to go back to the original concept where each story often led into the next. His story arcs are far more complex though.RamblingSid wrote:Definitely not. What do you think? Will there be a bigger cliffhanger tonight?Digifiend wrote: What a twist at the end of today's episode! Re: Doctor Who 2011
To my mind Russell Davies had a much better grasp of structure, producing stories that stood on their own terms regardless of any sub-plots that were being developed in the background. By contrast Moffat reminds me of so many modern comicbook and TV scripters who simply avoid any sense of narrative resolution by 'trumping' each new cliffhanger with an even more dramatic one. He certainly seems to be full of ideas but in the long run his storytelling is hopelessly undisciplined - if not downright lazy. IMHO this is randomized formulaism masquerading as perpetual novelty (and I'm afraid it's the main reason why old-style Doctor Who stories tend to be so boring if you watch them from end-to-end).
