Some curios

Brought another stack of comics over from my mum's yesterday. I found some Dudley Watkins strips in Thomson's "Welcome" women's paper from 1953 and 1955:







Also there was this Angel Face teaser in issue 675 of the Dandy - and the cover too.





ANd these John Burns strips from three 1968 Titbits:

Angel Face was drawn by Ken Reid in The Dandy...
Peter pye was a very short series in The Beano by Dudley whos great at this period if history..

Wonder what Winker and Blinker was about...those headers on old Dandys always make me want to know more..

Just looked - its a wild west text story about a sheriff who rides an elephant.

I am 99% sure that Shipwrecked Circus is a reprint from the Dandy. If so, another fine example of recycling by DCT.

I am 99% sure that Shipwrecked Circus is a reprint from the Dandy. If so, another fine example of recycling by DCT.

Wrong comic, it was The Beano.

The original Shipwrecked Circus was two full pages, so if that's a reprint, whoever edited it did a very convincing job! I know Beano stars have had their own strip cartoons - could this be an early example of that?
