On the subject of cartoons, dc thomson have done a few. These are: Two Beano videos, two Dennis cartoons, and one Bananaman.

On a similiar topic There was a Derek the Sheep short flash (im assuming it's flash but i dont know and to most of you that would probably be irrelevant if it was) cartoon and Marvo the Wonder Chicken had a planned cartoon. Also DC Thomson made a TV cartoon based on a series of books they pubished called the blobs.

I'm talking about what you'd think would be good cartoon series.

We are aware of that...comicsgalore wrote:I'm talking about what you'd think would be good cartoon series.
Anyway, I'd love to see a Dandy TV show with different characters each week (A mixture of 8 different stories (Desperate Dan, Bananaman, George VS Dragon, Pre-Skool Prime Minister, Arena of Awesome, Kid Cops, Yore and Mr Meecher perhaps? They all seem like they'd prove to be popular to a child's audience.) They could be 15 minutes long and two can feature for every airing.
The same could go with the Beano with them going with Dennis the Menace (new stories, not old CBBC reruns), Minnie the Minx, Roger the Dodger, The Bash Street Kids, Fred's Bed, The Numskulls, Ball Boy and Dangerous Dan.
Meebo and Zuky would be a good one to show but not as part of the Beano TV Series, maybe a story with it's own TV series? They wouldn't be too long so maybe 5 minutes or something?

Good ideas harry. But i'd say probably Postman Prat instead of Kids Cops.
Re: A beano-dandy cartoon!
Maybe, my only thoughts on the matter were that Kid Cops will probably have more movement and therefore be more exciting despite Postman Prat being the better storywise of the two.comicsgalore wrote:Good ideas harry. But i'd say probably Postman Prat instead of Kids Cops.
If anyone is wondering why Yore is there, it's simply because I'd imagine it'd be very popular as a TV series, the action and different, wacky characters, a perfect TV show for kids!

Re: A beano-dandy cartoon!
You know, although the Beano videos were never shown on TV, there was a live action comic style show on CITV called Zzap! It ran for a decade, so I think that proves that a sketch format could work on TV. Dandy sadly isn't popular enough now to justify it, but a Beano one would work. Like the Beano videos, all they need to do is adapt comic storylines - and Dennis doesn't even need new material made, as the 2009 series had a set of accompanying shorts which rarely get any airtime (I've only seen half a dozen of them, and there's supposed to be the same number as there is full 10 minute episodes).
About Marvo, looks like it spent time in development hell. The production slide says © D.C. Thomson and Co 2008. Yet it has the 2004-7 Dandy logo on it. Also, Jetix Europe is credited, but it appears that it didn't air until after the Disney XD rebrand in 2009.
