Smiffy and Bananagirl can counter them. Smiffy's thick skull would be an equal match for Dan's boot (they're both as good as invincible), and Bananagirl and Bananaman have the same powers (apart from Bananagirl having her powers all the time instead of transforming with a banana - which means she has an advantage over him - Bananaman can be defeated just by turning back into Eric).

I've thought off another idea for a long story: Dennis wonders why he does menace, so he goes and holds auditions and asks people why they started menacing. However, Dennis becomes too sick to continue, so he ends up calling Curly, Pie-Face, Minnie, and The Bash Street Kids. They compete to see whose the best menacer, but they dont find out. The ending could be them all trawling through London, then hearing the Prime-Minister laughing. They run in and see he's reading Dennis in the Beano. This makes Dennis get a big head and the rest are so sick they throw him out of the Beano to get peace. What do you think?

They wouldn't have DC reading the Beano. They wouldn't even have him reading the Dandy. More likely to be banned from associating himself with good things

Funnily enough, I was mulling that exact same idea not too long ago. I thought up a story where the Beano Editor receives so many complaints about Meebo and Zuky constantly fighting, that he sends for their dads in an attempt to make them calm down. We then find out that Meebo's dad is Puss and Zuky's dad is Boots, and all four have a massive fight.

Since this seems to have become the de facto place to post vauge half-formed concepts for half-baked script ideas using Beano characters, one idea which came into my head some time ago was a multipart (albeit single-page) epic featuring Roger the Dodger getting fed up with being forced 25 years into the past and required to pretend it was still the 21st century, and attempting to get himself dishonourably thrown out of the Beano so he could seek greener pastures in the Dandy.

I've subconsciously written entire scenes for this non-starter, although I still don't have a clue how the plot hangs together. For some reason, and in spite of everything I've said elsewhere recently about artists who would be suitable to take up Roger when he does eventually come out of reprints, whenever I visualise a page from this story it comes out in Andy Fanton's style. I think it was Harry and his Hippo which made my brain subconsciously associate him with any and all male characters with quiffs.

For the Dandy Team I reckon:

Desperate Dan, Bananaman, Korky, George, Dragon, Pre-Skool PM, Lula, Harry Hill, Dave the Squirrel, Jibber, Hippo, Postman Prat (SUBS: Mr Meecher, Nuke Noodle and OWEN GOAL!)

Beano:

Dennis, Gnasher, Ball Boy, Minnie, Roger, Billy Whizz, Dangerous Dan, Plug, Smiffy, Meebo, Zuky (SUBS: Walter, Fred and Frankie (from Number 13))

I don't know whether this'll work or not but I reckon it'll be funny. George attacking Dragon... Jibber being in goal with Steve trying to be sensible... Dangerous Dan thinking the ref (Bash St. Teacher) is one of the SMIRK agents... Postman Prat being excellent at deliveries ()... Lula cheating by wishing for things... Pre-Skool PM banning stuff to make the game unfair (e.g. the goal)... Fred being sent off for illegal bed parking... Nuke Noodle beating up everybody (including the ref)... Hippo crushing poor Dave... Mr Meecher trying to be one of "da kidz"... Plug trying to scare the opponents with his facial features... Korky pretending the football is a ball of wool... Roger trying to dodge the ball so he doesn't have to do anything... And Ball Boy and Owen Goal trying to play properly whereas the rest of the teams aren't...

I think it'd be very good, not sure which comic it'll feature in... Maybe a Beano/Dandy special book (like Beano Summer Special No.1 that came out this year) with just the one story being extra long.

For an artist I think either Jamie Smart, Nigel Parkinson, Andy Fanton, Barrie Appleby or Laura Howell. Not too sure, they'd all look great!

Also Kid Cops as the commentators!

Good ideas, harry! The girl in My Own Genie is called Lula, and isnt she technically a past character? I know MOG's in reprints at the moment, but it originally ran in 2005.

Yep. I just changed the Beano character list box on Wikipedia to have Number 13 and Germs as current instead of past strips (and under their new names) for that exact reason. Reprints or not, My Own Genie is current.
