Yes , a sad indictment of the apparent disinterest and non - acknowledgement of a legend. Like many of the great artists of the past , it will take a few generations to celebrate his mastery of the comic art form.

Unfortunately, nothing of the British Lopez work we're talking about is in print, and in a few generations time it'll be so far removed from being available, it's unlikely that anyone will know anything about the work we celebrate here.

Western Comic Fans tend to be a conservative bunch - if it's not US superheroes, not many are interested.

Interesting to see that the latest batch of Commandos includes a reprint from 1963 that was drawn by Solano Lopez. Until now I had no idea he'd ever worked for DC Thomson.
