I read that obituary and couldn't believe he was still alive. It must be some kind of life achievement to outlive the writer of one's own obituary by eleven years!

What did he spend his last twenty years doing? I've seen him in loads of decades-old charity-bookshop cheapo compilations of cartoons licensed from the likes of Punch, but never, to the best of my knowledge, producing anything new during my lifetime. Perhaps I just don't buy the right publications? Gifford says he put out a football-based book in 1998, but any detail of his life beyond that is (obviously) absent.

I believe his cartoons still appeared in The Spectator, at least until recently. And they were topical - not reprints...

RIP a master of the single panel gag. A dying art.

My parents used to take the Sunday Mirror in the 60s and 70s and I remember he used to have a box containing three or four cartoons that made light of news stories that had happened that week. It was titled something like Langdon's Week. (sounds a bit too obvious so it may have been something catchier but it did contain his name which was unusual for a gag artist back in those days).
