Badía (Jorge)
I am in touch with Jorge Badía's son Oscar and he is trying to get as many originals of his father as possible and to try to stablish what they are and where they were published. He showed me this beautiful page and asked me if I knew where it was published. Seeing the gothic on it, I think it might have been from Creepy. The story is called the Resurrectionists and it is very much his style when he was signing as Galvez. Does anybody knows or have this story in a comic? It would be very much appreciatted it!!

Re: Badía (Jorge)
My experience of original artwork, and I have a fair amount, is that the publication, date and page are usually marked on it somewhere? Certainly for any art produced in the UK during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Perhaps it's different on the continent, and it's added at the film stage? But some English art reprinted on the continent also has these foreign titles and issue numbers marked on them too. If it doesn't have these, I'm wondering if it was never actually published?
Edit: If you look at this example from my ComicArtFans gallery:
http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiec ... GSub=60121
- you'll see at the bottom left, the marks to identify the publication ('Look-in') and issue number/page (issue 39, page
but next to it are the reprint identifications for the continent - 'Felix' (a German comic) no 849, seite (page) 12.
I hope that helps.

The title is on top (title of the story) and a ref number. He bought it to a UK seller but it might have been published in America. That I don't know because if it is from Creepy, then I don't know how they worked.
I have a little quantity of originals. The ones from Purita Campos belonging to Princess Tina or Pink are marked as being from those publications (either manually or by stamp) but the ones I got from France are either way marked (manually) or not at all. I have an original from Jorge Badia, too, from France (SAS) and not quotation as to where was published (though the seller said Aredit). I have originals from Paqui (José Ariza), Juli, Solá, Maria Pascual and Juliana Buch. some don't indicate what magazine they where in.

Re: Badía (Jorge)
The only Warren stories drawn by Jorge that I'm aware of were:
Creepy 42 - 'A Chronicle'
Creepy 43 - 'Three-Way Split'
Creepy 46 - 'Night Watch'
Creepy 80 - 'The Axe-Man Cometh'
It's possible that he may have also contributed to the Spanish Creepy, however, as this featured original strips as well as American reprints.

Re: Badía (Jorge)
Thanks!! The thing is that the title is in English. Mmm... could it be maybe out of Spellbound? I mean, the assumption that it could be Creepy is only and totally mine, there is not ground for it only that I thought the page was very gothic. Again, the lack of wordin in the images is not help!
Re: Badía (Jorge)
I suppose I don;t need to tell you that he used to sign as well as Jorge B. Galvez when drawing for Creepy -just in case, though I suppose you all already knew all his different "names".
Re: Badía (Jorge)
One thing that occurred to me after posting, and I have to confess ignorance of working practice here, is that perhaps this was drawn for a European syndication group. There were quite a few I think, and the fact the page has a story title as opposed to an individual publication may support this possibility?
Re: Badía (Jorge)
Yes, certainly Jorge worked for SI (Selecciones Ilustradas). All the Spanish authors that worked abroad in those years did so through Ortega, Seleccones Ilustradas, Creaciones Editoriales (the internationa offices of Bruguera), etc.
Re: Badía (Jorge)
Long shot but is it possible with the reference number, one of those agencies may know if it published or not?
Re: Badía (Jorge)
Unfortunatley those agencies are looooong go... most of the authors don't even know what happen to their work... I mean to their originals. And the quantity they were drawing for magazins abroad was so big they can't remember even the names of the publication.
Unfortunatley Badía died very young. His son was only five when he died and well, it only has been recently that he kind of discovered the extent of his father work. Let's say his part of the family relation with the other part mustn't be very good, so he was kind of in the dark about his father art and occupation really.

Re: Badía (Jorge)
I doubt if it would be from Spellbound as DC Thomson tend to retain their artwork. Other possibilities are the various Creepy-style magazines published by Seaboard and Marvel - though I can't find any reference to the title. In fact it's unusual there isn't any lettering, which makes me think it might have been unpublished.
Incidentally, is Jorge's son aware of all the 'Supercats' strips he drew for Spellbound and the Diana Annuals?

Re: Badía (Jorge)
Yes, he got some of the Super Cats and I told him about the magazines (I mean, he is trying to get originals and at the same time copies of publications with his father's work. I gave him the years of the annuals I have at home with Jorge's stories (Pinks, Oh Boy! and such) and some of the Spanish too. I need to look at my biggis from Germany as I believe he did some work (or better say some of his work was reprinted there) too.
I will tell him that it might be an unpublished story, but it seems somehow strange. I mean... if some collector/seller had it for sale... where did he get it? How did it come to his hands? What year was it made? Mmm...
This is turning all into a mystery! XD And it is a very fine page, too.
