A Heads-Up for Captain Britain Fans!

For the fashion unselfconscious amongst us, the larger branches of Asda (with a 'George' clothing section) are currently stocking Captain Britain t-shirts for seven quid, with a beautiful Alan Davis drawn CB flying in front of the Union Jack, and the slogan "Keep Cool and Soldier On". These are the greatest pieces of Captain Britain related merchandise I've seen in years! There's a link to their website here...

Where's his star sceptre? Must have been a bit of a shock when he rubbed his amulet to find it missing. Still I'm sure it's just temporary.

Slipping into Marvel Geek Mode: the Amulet of Right was last seen in Captain Britain & MI13 #2, but the Captain no longer needs it. The Star Sceptre's mystic circuitry (!) was apparently incorporated into his power amplifying uniform in Marvel Super-Heroes #377, though this wasn't confirmed until much later.

I'm still smarting about him only ever using the 'blast' button once and never using the other stud on his staff. I even wrote some fanfic to explain that.

That was fantastic! I've always wished someone would dust of the Reaver for a rematch. Did you ever get around to revealing who his mysterious patron was?

Have to correct you on one apparent misapprehension, though; Hurricane, at least, has indeed been seen more than once since he fought Captain Britain. Bert Potter resurfaced in the early 90s in a Marvel UK limited series called Gene Dogs, in which he was released from Darkmoor Prison (!) and his powers were massively increased. He later turned up in a Fantastic Four story several years later, having apparently reformed, emigrated to America and become a family man. He was last mentioned as being active during Marvel's Civil War event.

Yeah, I remember him vaguely later on. My memory is of Hurricane looking like the painted warrior Guy Gardner became. That might not be entirely accurate but, just like Knights of Pendragon, I couldn't see why they changed something that looked so good.

I should have time come summer to begin this again. Not revealed the mastermind yet. But it should all make sense. I began, but never got finished, a Hurricane v the Hulk at sometime. Both he and Graviton are two of my favourite villains. Both should have become major players in the MU.

I've been rereading a lot of that stuff lately, as one of my personal projects is adding Marvel UK characters, staff and titles to the Marvel Database Wiki. I'm gradually getting there, though with some titles it's going to take ages...

Looking good. These Captain America/Marvel Action comics are pretty difficult to get as a collection at a reasonable price, yet, I doubt there's more than a handful of collectors. Over-priced usually.

I know very little about some of the later kids titles, like Ewoks, Marvel Bumper Comic and, something like, Green Tales/Tree or whatever it was called. And very little about the 2000AD meets X-Men stuff from Overkill, Havoc, Bloodseed etc. I prefered mine a bit more Silver/Bronze Age.

It shows how dumbed down kids today are when we were reading Roy Thomas with his Shakespeare and Dante quotes and the classic art of John Buscema (not to mention Brit action comics). Yet today, it's the childish Brave & Bold or Ben 10 as far as action is concerned (I never see any kids buying Marvel UK's Collectors Editions).

I put five Marvel Action's up on ebay last year at a starting price of 99p each. They went for fourteen quid. There are some collectors out there somewhere[/].

I agree, but I don't think it's the kids' fault. I think publishers seriously underestimate kids and aim the wrong kind of books at them. The Panini collectors eds seem to be aimed at a higher age bracket.
