There are many things I don't like about this irksome social media spam, among them is the faintly patronising tone and the contrived stimulus/response methodology. Unfortunately, at this time I can't think of a good name for someone who is paid to pretend to be your friend...

Despite the BS, the Haynes Manual looks interesting.

I can understand how you feel, no one likes spam! I genuinely think people on this forum would be interested in this Thunderbirds Manual and think it's FAB - appreciate that you think it looks interesting despite anything else.

In which case let's give a shout out to the people who actually did the book. Top class professionals Sam Denham (writer) and Graham Bleathman (artist), both of whom have been lifelong fans of the Gerry Anderson universe and who have also worked on Thunderbirds comics in the past.

I will be honest and say that it came up on my Amazon recommendations. I saw that it was Graham Bleathman's signature on the front of the book and am sorely tempted. Buy it? Probably not. Get it as a gift? It wouldn't go amiss and I would thoroughly enjoy it.

Shame the 'actual' manuals just use composite photographs these days. I'm often tempted by old ones in Charity Shops just for the sublime Terry Davey drawings. Did he ever so a cutaway for Eagle?

Are the Thunderbird craft updated to modern specs? The ones in the tv series had clunky control panels with old clock radio flipper numerals and toothpaste lid buttons - not to mention old fashioned reel to reel tapes in TB5. A superb series though - I have the dvd box set. Whenever the air conditioning in my office isn't working I compare it to the Pit of Peril episode. "Its not even this bad in the Sidewinder." etc.

Threads like this one seem to be on the increase. Can we please have a new rule which states that any users in the pay of corporations to promote their products on this forum must first pay Al for the privilege? Otherwise it just seems like freeloading, and little better than the days when we were swamped by cheap C1aL!S, fake watches, etc.

I agree with your main point, Swirly, but isn't this just the sort of post that should be in the Suggestions and Support forum? If not, what exactly is that forum for?

I've given this a bit of thought, and in the first place I'm going to move this to Non Comics Discussion as it isn't discussing a British comic but rather a book concerning a TV series which happened to have an associated comic, unless I am much mistaken.

I want to pick up the principles in a separate thread in Suggestions and Support, if you wouldn't mind having a look at my thoughts and giving your opinions here?
