it wasn't on here, but once i knew the series number and name, i was able to find a copy and go through and take a screenshot. I just got lucky with the ebay search, someone was selling lots of individual issues, and that issue was among them

From the Cliff Richard film Wonderful Life, 1964. I can't identify the comics that Melvyn Hayes and Sir Cliff are holding, maybe the comics were sourced on location on The Canary Islands so aren't of British or US origin. The comic being read on the right appears to be lacking a cover, or possibly inside-out. Whatever Hank Marvin is reading on the left, he's really enjoying it.

As they're all wearing US uniforms I'd guess that they've split up the 'Funnies' section to an American paper like 'Stars & Stripes' - these were generally quite similar to traditional British comics.

Well it looks like the back page is headed Casper - as in the friendly ghost? The character's Wikipedia page makes no mention of ever being a newspaper strip though.

Not sure about this one, from Carry On Sergeant, 1958. Is that a comic being read by the squaddie on the right? Anyone recognise it from the back page shown? I think the word at the top of the page may be 'Laughter', in which case it could be the jokes page of a newspaper or Weekly News/Reveille-type publication.

I can't tell which comic Arthur is reading. Could he be reading about himself in Radio Fun? I don't know what size comic RF was, nor whether Big-Hearted Arthur was still appearing in it by 1959.

Radio Fun was about the size of Whizzer & Chips etc. That's not it anyway. Possibly Mickey Mouse Weekly? Whatever it is, it's folded inside out so we can't see the title.

By the early 1950s Arthur Askey was in TV Fun, but I think the strip had finished by 1959. (The comic closed that year anyway.)

Laughter was the jokes page of the Daily Mirror back then. It's more likely a squaddie would be reading that than the Weekly News. (And it'd be a cheaper prop. )

On the girl's comic we can see a Flip McCoy page, so she must be reading a Topper. Not sure what Jimmy's reading - could he be looking at an Eagle cutaway page?
