That explains it then. I knew it was from Wizard as it was mentioned in Beano/Dandy: Focus on the Fifties.

Don't forget to treat yourself to pie, mash and liquor in Goddard's pie house.

Mostly single page Desperate Dan strips, with some "serialised" stories running up to eight pages. I believe all the comic strips in here are reprinted from previous issues of The Dandy. It also has some text stories with one or two illustrations each. Of course, all art by the wonderful Dudley Watkins. I wish I could upload a few but I'm always nervous about scanning old annuals, frail as they are!

In one serial various relatives from around the world visit Dan's Great Uncle Eb and compete to inherit his millions... in another Dan is hypnotised into thinking he's a horse and causes havoc... and in another Dan loses all his strength from taking hair restorer incorrectly! Those are the ones I remember. Great stories. What I love about early Desperate Dan stories is how over the top they are.

Full run of Captain America with the paper covers. Very difficult to find these later Marvel UKs at a reasonable price. Their collectability is low and the stories in many fairly average, yet there's not many to be had. It'll be a while for me to add the likes of Valour, Forces in Combat etc. They're not worth paying over the odds for and, judging by eBay, I'm not the only one to think that.

The Phoenix 27, 30, 31 and 32. I'd've got 24 and 25 but FPI Belfast was out of 26. I already have 28 and 29.

I forgot to mention that a few months back at the ephemera fair I picked up a booklet "63 cars of 1963" given free with the Rover & Adventure. Knowing there were loads of these comics at the Junk Shop in Greenwich I thought i'd checkon Sunday to see if they had the actual issue it came with. I pulled open the drawer, lifted out a handful of comics and there it was on the top of the remaining pile.

Also the Hotspurs I got on Sunday include an unbroken run from issue 1158 to 1190 and issues 1197 and 1197. And apologies to Digifiend I did actually buy copies of the Wizard - 18 issues from 1959. Because i'd bought a couple of hundred Rovers from the Junk Shop a few months back i automatically thought these were Rovers - I didn't even glance at the mastheads. But the Boyhood of Desperate Dan was still in the Hotspur.

No apology needed, I was unaware of the reprints, hence my incorrectly thinking you was mistaken. It was my mistake. By the way, you just said 1197 twice.

1193 and 1197 but I doubt if anyone is losing any sleep wondering which number I erroneously omitted. The word minutiae springs to mind.

Wife of forum member: "Darling, wake up - you're talking in your sleep."
FM: "What was I saying?"
Wife: "Just the number 1197 over and over."
FM diving out of bed: "I must get back online - I pray to god he's corrected that erroneous post"
