Eh? Why is the top half of the back cover blank?

It could be the end of a text story, which hasn't reproduced in the picture, or external adverts which they had to censor, as otherwise they'd need to go round the houses getting permission to use all the logos and designs in them.
The DC Thomson papers at that time had a small 'block' of adverts with loads of tiny ones crammed together, it was usually a narrow column on the inside, though.

Even if torn away, the page underneath is still blank... something either failed to show up or was deliberately censored.

here's another obscure kids show from the 80's..Educating Marmalade.

in this episode, she gets sent to jail and manages to get the warders to let the prisoners read comics...among the comics on display are Beano, Nutty, Spider-Man and Twinkle and others i can't identify...including one in the second pic that looks like it maybe the Mekon on the cover? not sure

Would it be possible to identify the Twinkle cover and date? The only reason I ask is, and I know this sounds surreal, but it looks like The Beatles on that cover! It gives me the impression that its from the Sgt Pepper sessions (if you have the original gatefold cover you'll know what I mean).
I've found something that is a bit similar to the Twinlke in the picture, but its already a year out of date according to the other comics.

The actor reading the Beano was PC Braithwaite in Z-Cars. I was an avid viewer in the 70s.

Just watching v for vendetta on blu ray & 27.13 mins in there us 2 beanos & 2 hotspurs on the wall. I dont know if its been mentioned so apologies if it has.

On the hairy strikers segment on Soccer AM this morning a comedian came on holding & flicking through a Beano.It may have been a christmas one as it looked like a big snowman with Dennis on the cover.

it may have been beanomax as it looks like a snowman under all the tat but i could be wrong as i havent bought it in a long time i just had a quick look in whs.

I dont think it was that one it looked like a big dennis lookalike snowman on the cover but you couldnt see a clear shot of the cover anyway i had to pause it at different angles.

Not an actual comic, but on Channel 4's cartoon Full English, we see inside Edgar's head, where four people are controlling him - and inside one of them is another four people! Effectively, his Numskulls have their own Numskulls.

Those were the days when Christmas TV was special. Christmas Night With The Stars was a great idea. Nowadays its Emmerdale, Eastenders and Corrie christmas editions. We don't want the same programmes on Christmas night that are on 52 weeks a year.
