COMIC ARCHIVE; ONE EYED JACK AND THE DEATH OF VALIANT

Post by David McDonald »

Firstly, I hope Im not stepping on anyones toes promoting this here, but I do think it will be of interest.
I have put together a new mag on comics called Comic Archive, which will hopefully be a semi regular look at the more obscure and forgotten stories, titles and creators of comics.
The first one is One Eyed Jack and the Death of Valiant, it featured articles and interviews with John Wagner, John Cooper, Kevin O'Neill, Jan Shepheard, as well as contributions from Kelvin Gosnell and Dave Hunt plus more.
32 pages plus covers, B&W and colour too, all for £3.99 plus £1.50 post, or a digital download for £1.50 all available for the excellent comicsy site here http://www.comicsy.co.uk/hibernia/
NOT AVAILABLE IN SHOPS!

Ive ordered mine too, VALLIANT was a great comic and the strips captured the mood and culture of the 70s.

Got it Thursday and a very interesting read.

Now I wonder what would have happened if instead of launching 2000AD, IPC invested the new characters into Valiant (along with the characters from a Starlord merger)?

Would Valiant be around today? Possibly starring classic characters as Adam Eterno, etc...?

Intriguing.

Thanks so much for the comments, glad you like it!

No more Doomlord Im afraid, the licence was too expencive for me.
I do have more of Comic Archive planned, I have the second and third book mapped out, and quiet a bit of material gathered for it, it depends on how quickly this sells to be able to print more. If you know of others that may like this spread the word

Thanks!

David, I got my copy today and I am very impressed with it. I have one comment. Page 3 has Cadman being featured in Warlord. Cadman was actually a Victor character.

That strip featured beautiful art by Mike Dorey and was a delight to read.

Otherwise, what a great little gem and worth the few bawbees that you are asking of it.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Delighted you have enjoyed it, and thanks for buying!
I will be doing another Comic Archive later in the year, more on IPC's output form the late seventies/eighties. Thanks for the pointer on Cadman, will be corrected in future editions, which will be soon enough, One Eyed Jack is sold out to a handful of issues.
