Can anyone name this artist?

This'll be a long shot, but it's worth a go...

When I was younger (around 1995-ish), I was given one of Gary Larson's Far Side books as a present, and subsequently became obsessed with single-panel gag cartoons. Every car boot sale we went to after that I'd be coming home with armfuls of books by all sorts of different artists (mostly ones that I really shouldn't've been reading at that age!).

Anyway, I've still got most of them but there's one that I didn't keep hold of, because I didn't "get" any of the jokes at the time but it's possible I might do now. The drawings were very scratchy, not much more advanced than stick figures but with occasional beards. Often the ink smudges were VERY visibly done right across the page.

It seemed to be one continuous story throughout the book, with one scene involving lots of bearded men who chose to lean their heads sideways and they walked off in parade form like that.

Another scene had a man introducing his friends and their traits - one of them defined as "he shouts at people on buses", whilst another one could "roll cigarettes in his pockets".

It's POSSIBLE the book may have had something to do with Private Eye, but that's all I can remember for now.

Anyone got any idea what I'm talking about?

Could this be a book based on a UK TV show around 2004 called "Modern Toss" ? they did a series of books (see link)

Nice try, but it's definitely not Modern Toss - I'm a big fan of those things, but I think the cartoons I'm thinking of are more a product of the 1980s. It was around 1995 when I got the book second-hand from a car boot sale, and I think there was a lot of "yuppie" references in there.
