People on this forum seem, generally, to hate Kev Sutherland's work. I think it's actually OK, much more interesting and stylised than, say, Nick Brennan (Blinky, Crazy for Daisy), who's work looks like it was done in 5 minutes with a felt tip. Kevin really takes time and effort over his work.

Poor? How very dare you! I thought it was looking quite good, it's certainly the most fun I've had writing and drawing comics in years. After next week's concluding episode, another three--parter begins - Ickle Bitty Werewolf On Bash Street. Poor indeed

intersting to see the Beano tackling the Asbo underclass full-on: well as full-on as they can while retaining a PG rating! It's pretty near-the-knuckle stuff! The gap between The Beano and Viz is closing...

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet (well okay, yes, I mean wanting to blow my own trumpet), I thought I'd forward these figures.

The poll results from this week's Beanotown online vote:

Dennis the Menace 3581 543 246 128 39
Schools Out 2145 229 275 175 31
The Numskulls 843 85 96 130 104
Minnie the Minx 780 50 125 155 51
Billy Whizz 646 36 114 124 49
Robbie Rebel 588 54 72 102 166
Ball Boy 537 49 55 127 105
Freddie Fear 511 39 77 85 139
Little Plum 455 43 54 78 187
Crazy for Daisy 318 28 42 52 285

Total number of voters: 1156

To be honest I'm not sure what the 4 sets of figures after the main total signify, I think one is for number of "gold medal" votes, one for "siver medal" and one for "booby prize", but I can't see how it all adds up. Either way, the kids seemed to like it (second to Dennis The Menace is the highest score anything ever gets) so I'm happy.

Schools Out was THE BEST comic strip in the Beano for ages. Pity it's stopped.

Do I take this cryptic comment to mean there was a strip years ago called School's Out?

Kev F

PS: I've worked out the scoring. Multiply the 1st score by 5, the second by 3 and the 3rd by 1 and that gives you the total. The final score is the "golden raspberry", which I think should be subtracted from the total, but that's just me.

I think Magnet meant the bash street Singled Out strip other than the Schools out one. Although I'm only guessing here :)

I think the BSK are usually pretty high up in popularity polls, so you've maintained their position. I'm not being sarcastic or mean, just pointing out that it's hard to read anything into these polls given the perennially similar results. And Roger's not there, either - he's usually near the top, too.

Tee hee, snigger snigger, Imagine my joy on reading this today on Beanotown:

"There were some surprises in the results of this weeks on-line poll.... On the podium there was no Dennis the Menace this week, but Menaces still found their way into third Bea and second Gnasher and Gnipper. But in first place of a tightly contested on-line poll was our special three-part tale Schools Out!. Head and Teacher might not be appreciated by the students of St. Asbos, but clearly you Beano fans still love them."

Yes, I know the online poll is slewed because they didn't put Dennis in the running this week (you vote for a choice of that week's contenders), and I probably stole the usual Bash St Kids note, and yes I know my Auntie could account for all the votes. But what the hey - for one week at least, I'm Number One.

eeh, it's like being the Arctic Monkeys.
