I'm enjoying reruns of The Saint on Channel 24 at the moment. They pop up a couple of times a week.

The repeats of Kojak have been great on ITV4 too - even though I'm not much into US products.

BBC2 day has also been repeating early episodes of Are You Being Served? - when it was great - I'd forgotten it was funny; always thoguht it went downhill when Mr Grainger (Arthur Brough) died - a very underrated character.

Don't think that any revival of Open All Hours would be good; bit pointless. Let sleeping dogs lie I say...

Heard about the newly discovered Doctor Who episodes - now have all the episodes of Enemy Of The World and one episode of The Web OF Fear is now missing - both with Pat Troughton.

Yes! great news for Dr Who fans! The Dr Who Online site has put up some great clips from both. "Enemy" will be out on DVD on 22nd Nov!

Wow......someone had 16mm film recording facilities at home, in 1964! Must have been very expensive then....I'm not the biggest Who-vian ever, but unearthed gems like this are always to be welcomed.

This story is not as clear as seems! There as yet is `No` official confirmation that `any` copies of `Marco Polo` been found yet! Wasn't it the D.Mirror who stated a couple of months back that 106 missing `Dr Who` eps found and Sky news were daft enough to repeat on air!?

Someone overseas claimed they had stacks of missing 1960s DR Who episodes and intended releasing them one-at-a-time, as a 'trickle' presumably so this dealer can obtain some sort of financial renumeration.

I will give this person the benefit of the doubt for the time being---here's hoping that a lot of missing episodes really will be forthcoming through this channel.

The Dr Who sites have been `rife` with rumours recently! Latest one is that `Marco Polo` the `Macra Terror` and all of the `Moonbase` will be announced as found in the new year! It'll be great if true-and one heck of a coincidence that all three stories begin with letter `M`

Just got this year's Xmas Radio Times - what a load of rubbish on! Think I'll be listening to Radio more.

In meantime when I can get to the library I'll be looking at old xmas tv stuff on you tube, whilst it'll be DVDs of old xmas tv at home when I've time.

I watched the 1972 ITV All Star Christmas Comedy Carnival recently - and whilst it was very hit & miss (esp. host Jimmy Tarbuck - a true Alan Partridge only not funny) & gets remembered negatively by critics & seen as inferior to BBC's efforts - it far beats today's dross!

I saw Carry on Christmas circa 1972 at my mas' house two years ago, it was also a mixed bag, with Sid James as a randy Santa Claus, and Babs Windsor as a saucy pixie on his knee.

That was the best bit!

I have fond memories of the Christmas Night With The Stars shows which ran for a couple of hours and were a mixture of variety and singing acts with brand new, ten minute sketches from favourite sitcoms of the day. That was back when they made an effort instead of just running all the normal tv shows like Coronation Street and Eastenders - they are on 52 weeks a year! Surely we can do without that dross on our special night. Eight hours of Laurel and Hardy would do me.

All down to cost as usual I guess. They sort of still have those variety acts and short sketches, except that now they're part of Children in Need or Comic Relief, and they don't have to pay the participants.

Not just the accountants who run TV today, but both channels' Xmas night variety were vehicles to show people what a great year we've had & look at all the great family sitcoms & variety shows we produce. They dont't do any of these things now - all depressing soaps & reality & mostly unfunny sitcoms & most not for families which just try to shock for laughs (by & starring mostly rich spoilt University types with no idea of reality). Plus reality shows. And all these can often sing & dance at cheridee annual terlethons.

I did view 1972's BBC Christmas Night with the stars on YouTube - some good stuff on there esp. The Goodies & Dad's Army; The Young Generation were great to watch & both Lulu & Cilla performed great songs neither of which were hits.

I have got bits of this on DVD on a Two Ronnies christmas DVD, but only with bits with the Ronnies in it, plus Lulu perfromance. A shame as all should be on DVD - beats today's dross (must add that even though the 2 Ronnies were very very hit & miss).
