Another great gone - Jose Ortiz
Sad to find out that Jose Ortiz has passed away. I did enjoy his work in Eagle, Battle and 2000AD.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I remember him from Warren magazines. Did he draw Vampirella?

According to GCD (Grand Comics Database -- see http://www.comics.org/ for this huge comics database) Ortiz only drew Vampirella once for Warren, a story called The Blood-Gulper in issue 35.
He also drew one further Vampirella story in 1988 for Harris Comics.

Ortiz did, however, draw the adventures of Pantha for Vampirella (as well as being Warren's all-time most prolific artist by some way).
In a similar vein he also drew Kitten Magee and her all-female space commandos for the British comic Wildcat during the late 1980s.
I really liked Ortiz - especially his black & white work, and I'm pleased to own a page from his run on Lion's Phantom Viking during the 1960s (though for years his stylized signature made me think of him as José Quiz!).
