I seem to recall coming across an old Lord Snooty story in which Dudley Watkins drew himself, (Snooty and his pals wanted Dudley to teach them how to draw.) I just wonder how many other artists have appeared in their own stories. Given the massive egos these people have, (just look at the famous painters who just couldn?t resist the temptation to do a self-portrait), I bet it?s happened quite often. Unlike us writers who are all shy retiring types who would never stoop to self-promotion.

Seen a few artists drawing thir likeness in their strps over the years - ones that spring to mind are J Edward Oliver (quite a few times) Leo Baxendale - In the US its pretty common seen most of the 60s stars there Krby, Colan, Heck, Romita Senior, Herb Trimpe etc , lots of underground artists such as Von Bode, Robert Crumb, Harvey Pekar (well his strips are autobiographical so thats fair enuff) and of course the UK Hunt Emerson as well as the legendary EC (Mad etc) artists who seemed to always be in their strips Wally Wood, Al Jaffe, Sergio Aragones, Jack Davies etc.
