Thank you, Marckie, that was an extremely useful link!

Here's my own copy of Katy no.1. Apart from 'Guitar Girl' and 'The Cats of Carey Street' the other stories included are 'Sister to a Star', 'Comb of Mystery' and a two-page humorous strip called 'Claws' (surprisingly enough the free transfers are still inside as well!).

Gosh, what a lovely cover. Doesn't say much about the inside, but beautiful and would certainly interest me to pick it up if I saw it in the shop. I read on the Ebay link that this title was US comic sized rather than standard UK size. How many pages was it (roughly) - was it thicker than a usual weekly girls comic I assume?philcom55 wrote:Here's my own copy of Katy no.1. jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.

Katy was just slightly larger than an American comic book and had 36 pages. Here's the way 'Combing Her Golden Hair' was reprinted from Jinty with the title changed to 'Comb of Mystery'.
And here's a page of 'Claws' (which I don't recognize at all).
I could be wrong but the cartoons on the back page look to me like the work of Denis Gifford.

I think that cover by Purita Campos was used for a Princess Tina magazine too.
Re: Katy 1-10 Misty & Tammy reprints Vulcan For Girls?
That's right. Most of the covers of Katy were used for Princess Tina, and all of them were used for the Dutch edition of Tina.I think that cover by Purita Campos was used for a Princess Tina magazine too.

Yes, I think I have it. Either Princess Tina or the Dutch Tina that I have a few

In both cases the cover was timed to coincide with November 5th (Bonfire Night in the UK).

I don't think that it is Denis Gifford that did the Claws strip. I recognise the style and it is annoying the hell out of me.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
Re: Katy 1-10 Misty & Tammy reprints Vulcan For Girls?
The back page cartoons that made me think of Denis Gifford are called 'Koo Koo Klub' - 'Claws' definitely isn't him.
Re: Katy 1-10 Misty & Tammy reprints Vulcan For Girls?
In the Netherlands it was used for the Tina for the week from 29 January to 4 February 1972.

And they've flipped that cover for the Tina comic, too! Wonder why?marckie73 wrote:In the Netherlands it was used for the Tina for the week from 29 January to 4 February 1972.

Yes, weird isn't it? Most of the others are the same as they were on Princess Tina. In the late 70's and early 80's there was always Purita's signature on the cover, so then it was more obvious when they flipped it.

Koo Koo Club is Denis Gifford. Claws looks like Dave Follows.
