Re: What comics did you buy today?
I bought an eBay issue of Jinty I had been missing - not a particularly early one, one from 1980. Imagine my surprise and indeed horror when I received the envelope - it had been crammed into an A4 envelope despite being about an inch too wide for that! The seller had actually gone to the extent of folding it to make it fit [faints]
I have sent an ebay message to advise them that this is not the right thing to do, but blimey.

jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.

Maybe it's not exactly a comic but I found a Jack and Jill 1981 annual in a charity shop. The book is in very good shape and a bargain for 75p, it would have been perfect if some kid hadn't scrolled on the games page.
comixminx: folding the magazine to get it to fit the envelope takes the biscuit

folding a comic to fit an envelope? can't believe it! They are either very thick or purely ignorant and don't deserve to own another comic ever again.

Just received in the mail from fellow forum member Lew Stringer the Brickman Returns collection.

Shame on that child, not thinking of the collector thirty odd years later, by using the games page!Nagorama wrote:Maybe it's not exactly a comic but I found a Jack and Jill 1981 annual in a charity shop. To be honest I still find it amazing that I am able to build a collection of nursery comics from the 50s/60s in reasonable condition, sure there are puzzles done and some coloring, but I guess "par for the course". With only a couple of hundred in bound volumes as well which would be expected in better condition.
I remember stacking my Beano's, but nursery comics?

No it had a nice green spider a magic wand and glitter Pepper pig stickers which I will be covered in later when my grand daughter gets hold of them, plus inside was a trick or treat bag to cut out and make. That will be my job when I get home from work tomorrowPhoenix wrote:Did it have some sneezing powder as its free gift, BG?Bethanys grandad wrote:the latest Pepper Pig comic

I thought it was bad when I received some Pow! comics rolled up in a poster tube but folding comics at any time is really bad!comixminx wrote:I bought an eBay issue of Jinty I had been missing - not a particularly early one, one from 1980. It may surprise you but, even as a kid, I never ever scribbled, coloured or otherwise messed my comics or any book for that matter. But I accept that not every child wanted to keep their comics neat and tidy.matrix wrote:Shame on that child, not thinking of the collector thirty odd years later, by using the games page!Nagorama wrote:Maybe it's not exactly a comic but I found a Jack and Jill 1981 annual in a charity shop. The new Flash comic from Titan which is decent entertainment apart from the awful Harley Quinn. I suppose it's an age thing and HQ just isn't designed for my age group.
Doctor Who Magazine with the start of a new "vampire" threat story.
Also 5 John Steel Case-book issues of Thriller Picture Library, the 1969 Fantastic Annual and a Danger Man annual - no comic strips in that one.
