What comics did you buy today?
Re: What comics did you buy today?
That's a great book, made all the more valuable by Denis Gifford's artist IDs which appear in the margins. Denis wasn't always very reliable in that respect but this was very much HIS period!

The entire set of Captain Britain (1985-86) from one of the guys on this website. Absolutely brilliant.
A number of Commandos featuring the Convict Commandos.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
A near complete run of Buzz which i won by 2p,even though it was way over budget for me but i suppose i can get the remaining 5 issues i need anytime but not at the laughable prices they are currently on ebay for, some people really don't have a clue about the value of comics and always way over price them.
I'm going to have to order a set of tabloid size bags and boards now next week instead of my trip to forbidden planet.

Bought The Beano 3817 and Doctor Who Magazine 495 yesterday and Tales from the Tardis 2 and Simpsons Comics Spring Bumper Pack (Simpsons Comics 242 and 243 and Bart & Co 25) today.
I was surprised that Tales from the Tardis didn't jack up it's price, as it has 100 pages this month - and next month too - compared to 76 last month. But it was the same price as issue 1 - £3.99.
The Simpsons Bumper Pack is good value too at £4.99 for three comics. They were recent issues too - they're usually from a year ago but these ones are only a couple of months old (Oct/Nov 2015).

Although Titan's other 76 pagers in that format are £3.50. The £3.99 price is their standard for 100 pages. (Unlike Panini, who keep the price at £3.50 even when they do 100 page editions of their Marvel comics.)Digifiend wrote:Bought The Beano 3817 and Doctor Who Magazine 495 yesterday and Tales from the Tardis 2 and Simpsons Comics Spring Bumper Pack (Simpsons Comics 242 and 243 and Bart & Co 25) today.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Not today but this week. The postie popped a lovely wee parcel through the letterbox containing a few more facsimile Thriller Picture Libraries incl. The Strange Affair of the Lyons Mail with excellent art by Robert Forrest, although it has been cut up and messed about for this reprint; Captain Flame with art by Sep Scott, again, looks as if the art has been messed about with to fit the small page layout - these stories originally appeared in Knockout, and a Dixon of Dock Green in TV Picture Stories - an original this time, not a facsimile. Also some other very early facsimiles of TPL for reading till I can find originals. Very happy. Hours of great reading and I've just started their adaptaion of The Green Archer. Watched the movie serial, got the comic, sadly, not read the book.

I took the advice of you chaps and took a wander down to our local The Works and picked up four Captain America books.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Two of my normally least favourite charity shops delivered the goods today.
Both had sales.
The first one had 4 books for a pound and because of the price I spent a little longer looking through the books and one that I thought to be an ordinary paperback book turned out to be a black and white graphic novel.
ROAD TO PERDITION 2 (about Chicago gangsters)
This cost 50p because I couldn't find anymore books to go with it.
The other charity shop was selling off all books at 20p each which included a number of annuals.
I got------
2000AD ANNUAL1980
2000AD ANNUAL 1987
BUNTY 1973
CHEEKY ANNUAL 1979
BIMBO BOOK 1975
DANDY ANNUAL 1978
and a non-fiction book

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Is that the new Garth Ennis Johnny Red? I've been getting that from my supplier - so far so good. I like pretty much anything by Ennis. I'm also getting War Stories, A Train Called Love (may not be up to his usual standard), and Dreaming Eagles (Aftershock comics) although I haven't got around to reading this one yet.SID wrote:Johnny Red issue 3
This week's delivery also included James Bond (Vargr) issues 2 and 3, Letter 44 issue 22, X-O Manowar issue 43, Symmetry issue 1 (with a freebie poster), Monstress issue 2 (also with a poster - my supplier is excellent), The Sheriff of Babylon issues 1 and 2, All Star Section Eight issue 6 (also by Ennis, but not very good) and Dark Knight; The Master Race issues 1 and 2.

Sun Comic #1 from November 11th 1947. Only comic that has really appealed on ebay this week........so far
