Wish Lists...

Post by TwoHeadedBoy »

How's this then? We all put up lists of what we're after that's eluded us for some time, and we can all help each other out by keeping a look out at comic fairs, charity shops, car boot sales or even online and suchlike? We might even have what folk are after in our own collections...

I'll start with this modest list...

-The Winjin Pom
(One-off comic from around 1991, based on the Spitting Image team-produced puppet show about animals that live in a talking camper van)

-Round the Bend
(Another one-off comic based on a puppet show)

-Gas Volume 3, numbers 1, 3, 4, 9 and 10

-Big Comic Book 1993

-Any issues of Monster Wrestlers In My Pocket

-Viz Old Gold Rope: The Very Best of Student Grant/Biffa Bacon/Sid the Sexist/Johnny Fartpants

-The Best of UT (just got volume 2 of this from eBay, still looking for the first volume that's a "best of" the first four issues)

I don't think my list will even appeal to most of you, but here goes:-
Various issues of Super Thriller with Ace Hart, either Foldes Press or WDL;
Various GG Swan comics;
A slowly but continually shrinking number of Thriller Picture Library, Super Detective Library, TV Picture Stories;
Miller's British Phantom reprints;
Rather a lot of the superhero American look-a-like comics - you can see some of them in various Gifford books - it wasn't only Marvelman.

I've seen Prog Zero, [not the original artwork, obviously ] Shiner, if you mean the mock-up of the comic presented to the IPC/Fleetway execs.

You may have something completely different in mind of course.......

In my own case, I've fairly recently caught up with almost all of them, bar the nursery comics [!]

I am still missing issue one of COR!! , a few 1970 Whizzer and Chips...and top of my wants list is:

---the short-lived GIGGLE [1967]

This is probably the only childhood comic I have not revisited since the print run-----I've even got a few of the relatively difficult-to-get SOLO--- however, GIGS is not all that easy to get a hold of, or is prohibitively expensive.

Yes, the mock up which I think may still be on the BBC website. It had the Visible Man, a different Dan Dare strip and some of the other regulars I recall. Where did you get to see that holy grail?

Full runs of TV Tornado and Solo. I bought TV 21 in the sixties so couldn't buy these two as well. I have a few of each.

Big Comic Book 1993 has gone unsold a couple of times, most recently ended yesterday, may be worth contacting the seller if you're still looking for it...

I have that Round The Bend special, although I don't know the show, the comic is pretty funny!

Thanks for that, I've sent the seller a message as you suggested, see what happens :)

As for Round The Bend, you can watch every episode on Tony Husband's website, if you so wish:

TV Comic 412 sold on eBay about a month ago along with another 4 issues for £9.99, TV Tornado #59 (Dr who cover) is available on eBay right now...

It might be as well to state that these are people's wish lists that they don't want to pay the going market rate for. Because pretty much everything in this thread is available if you're willing to pay the money...

I did see the TV Comic but it was in rather bad shape if I remember. I can't see TV Tornado 59 on eBay, but if you can direct me to the link that would be much appreciated!
