They were small paperback books published by Knockabout under licence from Fleetway. I think they only did two.

Yeah, I'd never heard of them until I saw them listed in the back of an issue of Knockabout Comics! The first one's in the post as well :)

Probably my last scheduled purchase for this year

From the Border Bookshop
Two 1953 issues of the Dandy

And from NewsStand

I preordered the Christmas 2016 issue of Beano, and the December 2016 issue of Danger Mouse.

Nipped in the wednesday charity shop and got-------

CHARLTON COMICS FUNNY ANIMALS 2 1984-------£1, difficult choice between this and Atomic Mouse.
FIRST COMICS E-MAN 1984 funny issue similar to ELF QUEST---£1, decided on this instead of a normal 36 page Judge Dredd the early cases which hopefully I can pick up next week.
DC ALL-STAR SQUADRON 1983--£1, Chose this because it has knights in the storyline.

----and now according to my shopping list I will need to buy a partridge in a pear tree followed by eleven other unusual christmas gifts :)

Had a day out in Manchester today, and came back with:

-This month's Viz (with a free calendar!)
-The Dandy No.3281 (last issue before that disastrous 2004 revamp)
-The Dandy No.3262 (bumper 40 page issue for some reason)
-Deadline #25 (hardly see this anywhere so always pick it up when I see it)
-Nutty issues 289 and 291
-Zit issues 42 and 68
-The Beezer No.1706 (great Numskulls cover)
-Sick No.41 (from 1966, one of those many MAD Magazine knock-offs that were all over the place in the fifties and sixties)

Not bad for a tenner (not including Viz) :)

Bought the full first 14 or so months of the Eagle reissue inc all the free gifts for £6.50.

I'm gonna try and get them bound to see how they turn out.

MCM's 'Comicon' events at Birmingham's NEC seem to be a bit of a misnomer these days as hardly anybody appears to sell British comics there anymore. Fortunately this worked to my advantage yesterday as I was the only person who appeared to have any interest in the one dealer who DID turn up with piles of them (at very reasonable prices). Consequently I staggered home quite happily with armfuls of Jags, Jackies, Girls' Crystals and various picture libraries that would have been instantly snapped up at any other comic mart! :)

I'd have fought you over those Jags if I'd been there! Were they the early tabloid ones or the 1969 smaller issues?
