If Trump carries through his ideas on climate change denial, then he'll be responsible for the deaths of millions through food shortages and water wars. Instead of grasping the hand of cheap, clean energy, Trump and his supporters will be responsible for, in pulp stylee...

Anyone remember that Nixon sent in the State Troopers on `Kent State` university in 1970- and look what happened there!

I'm unapologetic about voting for `out of Europe` Glad to have done so - and I voted to stay in in 75!

1] He has turned down the 400 000 Dollars per annum a US President can claim as payment for the job: Trump dismissed this as 'chump change' and it will be to him! JFK and other presidents waived their fee, too and good on them].

I don't think this is a good sign by itself. Trump still hasn't declared his taxes - getting the presidential salary would have meant he would have had to, even more so than already. He is using the presidency as a way to further his own and his family's business interests - already! - without declaring those vested interests. Which include a large Russian business deal - fine, but at the same time as he is asking for security clearance for the members of his family who are negotiating those deals? Very worrying.

And that's without looking at the people he is appointing to positions - anti-semitic white supremacists, and no, that is not an exaggeration.
jintycomic.wordpress.com/ Excellent and weird stories from the past - with amazing art to boot.

Trump has taken to wearing a bullet-proof vest all the time [well, maybe not in the shower, but who knows] ever since a Mexican Drugs Baron put a price of '100 M US D ' upon his head.

Unfortunately for Trump, he has an unfeasibly large head as a target.

Trump is most certainly 'the man of the year' though, despite my misgivings about him!

Life will be unpredictable and 'not boring' under Trumpism--the guy is one to watch!!

Con man of the year more like. As well as all his other appalling personality traits, Trump uses the old trick of misdirection and projection; loudly and assertively accusing his opponents of the flaws he himself possesses. He's the world's biggest 'troll' in that respect.

He'll find it more difficult to throw out personal abuse now- because he's now President Elect soon President! Nixon called those students killed at Kent State "Bums" and it rebounded on him! Trump amended his comments about the street protesters after his first tirade! As a private businessman `attack` with impunity; but now, To have the President (to be)of the USA verbally abusing its citizens would rebound on him now! His position is too important! Even he is beginning to realise this.

Business perks aside, I do wonder how he will fare as President where he will have the eyes of the world on him and his every action will be scrutinized and most likely criticized.

Plus all his life he could do whatever he wanted, treat people however he felt like with him being only accountable to himself.

Not anymore.

He will now have a responsibility to the American people and Congress. He won't just be able to do whatever he feels like and to a man like that, I think it will be difficult.

I must admit, I do feel sorry for May and the rest who now have to go cap in hand to him as well as put up with a crowing Nigel Farage.

And talking of business perks, will Trump be any worst than Bill Clinton and the two George Bushes? I'm sure they did similar. In fact I seem to remember reading somewhere about Bush's associates profiting from the Iraqis oil during the occupation. And I'm sure that is one of the reasons why people didn't trust Hillary Clinton.

Trumps' first day in, and he is dismantling the previous Obama Governments' welfare reform etc and has clenched his fist in the air as he declares:

'AMERICA COMES FIRST!'

Previous Political parallels:

1933, Germany, a modern State in the making but in a time of slump, looking for a change in direction: the National Socialists gain power democratically: the first concentration camps, beginning with Dachau in Germany itself, open up within weeks.

If things change rapidly and dramatically in the USA within a short space of time [as in the case of 30s Germany] then this will be cause for concern for us all I reckon.

If nothing really changes, and it's just the same old same old, things will roll along like they did under Obama.

We will find out pretty soon .

Watch this space---he is only one day in--I hope I am wrong about Trump.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that he's president, it's like some kind of weird faux photo drama strip story in Viz.

I was chatting to some guys at works and they were saying it's akin to the brexit vote.

I don't really agree with that - whilst I voted to remain I'm willing to concede that at least the desire to leave the EU does have some validity (even though I think the good outweighs the bad), and it's possible to have an intelligent discussion about the the pros and cons.

Voting Trump as president just seems unworldly though - the guy is a proven liar, bore, braggart, treats women and minorities dispicably, is bright orange and frankly has a haircut that defies science.

Not to start to his actual policies! A wall!!! A thousand mile wall! I know the Simpsons foresaw the likelihood of him gaining the presidency over a decade ago, but even that show wouldn't go as far as his actual policies.

It defies belief.

Trumps' wall at the Mexican Border will cost Billions of Dollars as much of the work would mean building in hostile, difficult-to-reach areas.

Classic line from Trump:

'The Chinese built a wall-------thousands of miles long, using basic technology.

The Chinese didn't have tractors to help them build their Great Wall'''

-----and do ya know what...

----WE GOT TRACTORS!'

It all sounds Pythonesque and satirical, but Trump was deadly serious here, with not a hint of irony.

The Daily Express is the biggest scaremonger of all so let's hope the situation doesn't escalate, Rab, although I share your concerns obviously.

It is a really dangerous time at present Lew, with North Korea stating they will strike against even the USA first.

This is a real time of turmoil and uncrertainty and here is hoping Sanity will Prevail.
