Ebay - you want how much for it???
Re: Ebay - you want how much for it???
Ordinarily, Col, I was being a cheeky beggar as regards the Action I bid on last year; seeing how far I could push it. If it went tits up; didn't matter, I could afford to sort it. I really never thought I would end up owning thee banned "Action" comic in a thousand years. I was always convinced that I would be outbid. I was in the end... job done. Till the comeback a few days later that froze my b*****ks. That was an entirely different situation that which I had never anticipated. From Phil's Auctions of that bid, I was the highest UK bidder beyond the eventual winner. I was just basically pi**ing about at this time (but, as I stated earlier, was in a position to accommodate my stupidity). When you are suddenly confronted with a sale with no competing bidders to distract you... it really is a different proposition... it's like, are you ready or not? I went for it and the rest is history. Now, with the knowledge on the latest sale, how can I not feel a little smug? I was in the right place at the same time, so to speak... no way would I have shelled out 4 grand last year. If that is now the going price, then... well, I guess it is probably a rare thing indeed

I bought my copy of the first Victor Special for just a fiver from a dealer in sporting memorabilia a few years ago. It's surprising how much reasonably priced stuff you can still find if you look beyond the the regular Ebay sources such as Phil's Comics (which always seems to me like an internet equivalent of 'Sniper's Alley' from the way in which any bids I make ALWAYS get beaten at the last second!). Only this afternoon I picked up a couple of early TV21s from a local stall for an extremely reasonable £1 each!colcool007 wrote:My main wish to win the lottery is so that I can afford to buy three comics that are currently out of my price range. That issue of Action is one, issue 1 of Commando is another and the other is the first Victor Summer Special from 1967.

Too bloody much!Richard S. wrote:how much does that Victor special go for then Col?
I keep an eye out for it when it appears, but it is a rare bird indeed. It normally goes for
around the £100 mark when I have seen it, but I would not be surprised to find it a lot cheaper as Phil has said. I always keep an eye out for comics where ever I go and I sometimes get a good deal. And at other times I don't. So it is a case of just keep looking!

I hate to say it but I am almost tempted to buy these Spellbound comics. But I think the magic went when I realised that this is almost £10 an issue (£9.16 if you want to be pedantic)! And to make it worse, it is not even the full run.

That's too high surely. Phil's comics sold the first 25 or so for £50/60 last year and I almost bought them. Obviously I should have!

It is. Even if you had the full run of 69 issues, I would not expect to pay that much for them all.Adam Eterno wrote:...That's too high surely. Phil's comics sold the first 25 or so for £50/60 last year and I almost bought them. Obviously I should have!
I have just found that we have issue 41 and I know that I have at least issue 1 somewhere, so for the remaining 67 issues, you might get me to spring £200 for them, but they would have to be near mint for me to pay that sort of price.

At last! A sensible price for the ultra-rare Bullet #62, which was only published in the tens of thousands. Thankfully they have reduced what is normally a collossal price to only £45 due to a mere technicality, i.e. the back cover being missing - I mean, come on, who reads that anyway?

He wants £8 for a mid 1990s 2000AD! Good grief! You can't give them away, so how does he think that he is going to get that sort of money for it!
