Thanks Steve. I considered going myself but the prospect of everything being disrupted by the marathon put me off. Maybe I'll try the next one on July 2nd.

My local shop Amazing Fantasy weren't as good as the last couple of years. They only ordered three FCBD titles - Marvel's Secret Empire, DC's Wonder Woman, and Image's I Hate Image. Everyone got a bag containing those three and two 25 cent books from a few months ago (Walking Dead and Outcast). A customer asked about 2000AD, which had been in last year's bag of 12 they handed out. Turns out they stopped selling it and didn't order the free one because nobody was buying the weekly, only the trades. Probably because WHSmith also sell it - speaking of which, I went there afterwards and bought this week's Beano and this month's Doctor Who Magazine.

All at Enniskillen ComicFest...
A Vampire Brats and Tom Thug sketch by Lew Stringer
A December 1986 Beano with Billy Whizz artwork not by Mal Judge
A sketch of Dennis, Curly, Pieface, Gnasher and Gnipper by Nigel P and Nika
Sector 13, the Belfast 2000AD fanzine (plugged the other day on Down the Tubes) (free)
Beano 3863, so Nigel and Nika would have something to sign (but they were giving it away free!)
First issue of Jackpot and two others
A Cheeky
Seven Monster Funs, including the last one
Rok of the Rovers 2-6, all signed by John, Alan and Dan Cornwell
Derek the Troll
A Davy Francis caricature
A Cam Kennedy Rogue Trooper print
Pretty good haul!

Is this a Roy Of The Rovers spoof that I've never heard of, Andy, or have you just spelt it incorrectly?

Rok of The Reds is a six part series showing what happens when the lives of a dangerous intergalactic outlaw and an arrogant footballer collide. With his home world destroyed, Rok of Arkadi is on the run and needs a hiding place. And that hiding place happens to be troubled football star Kyle Dixon.

It's a black comedy about revenge, redemption and the ‘beautiful game’. Does it pay homage to Roy Of The Rovers? Oh yes, does it ever.

It's how you imagine ROTR would have looked if John Wagner and Alan Grant had been let loose on Roy Race scripting duties.

I was hoping for that as well. No such luck. I was over in Italy recently when I noticed they still sell cowboy comics (and others) in the news kiosks.

Looking for comic related material at todays carboot, got---

SILVERFIN THE GRAPHIC NOVEL( looks good, young James Bond)
MANGA SHAKESPEARE A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM(Phew! not sure about that one my shakespeare interest is probably limited to Laurence Olivier's Richard the third :) )
and
MR CRABTREE GOES FISHING 1990 first published 1949 this version has comic strip plus colour illustrations and I remember seeing some of the comic strips in newspapers of that time.(Not that I have a great interest in fishing athough I did occasionally sit on the banks of the canal with rod and line as a teenager.)

a £1 the lot.

paw broon wrote:Another lovely selection of old, more obscure comics, Adam. The Yarmak could be from late 1949/early1950 and, with any luck, the art will be by the great Stanley Pitt. Please let me know if it is. I'm pretty sure it's an original Australian comic.
It is indeed by Stanley Pitt Paw. Here are some pictures

The first issue of a mid-fifties Charlton comic called Wild Frontier contained a 27 page story called Iroquois Trail, starring Hawkeye. The cover is different from your Iroquois Trail comic, but the central character looks the same. You can see WF 1 at http://comicbookplus.com/?dlid=20279.

Cheers David. The story is indeed about Hawkeye and is very similar to the storyline from the film "Last of the Mohicans". It is also 27 pages long so I think you've got it. I can't find any record of Streamline releasing this comic so it's always nice to own a comic that isn't on the GCD or anywhere else! I'm assuming as it's un-numbered that it was a one shot issue but I'll keep my eye out for others now.

I bought issues 1-3 of Whoopee! for £8. I hesitated as they weren't in great condition but then realised that I don't actually collect humour comics, so if they were in better condition, I'd never want to spend enough to buy them. So very happy with them.

Western Adventure Library #1 - Micron - 1965
Pocket Western Library #1 - T&P - 1966
