If that's the 1950s I'm a bit confused Steve as
Princess wasn't published until January 1960. Are you thinking of
School Friend?

Sorry I meant 1960s - I wish i'd never bought a black laptop - so hard to read the keyboard. I know the characters are white but still not easy on the minces.

Though it's rather different from her covers and comic strips I've just noticed that Purita got a chance to show off yet another side of her artwork for a couple of instalments of the 'Fashion Conscious!' feature that appeared on
Princess Tina's centre pages during the 1970s.
I don't know if it's of interest to you Ruth, but here's an example (slightly cropped I'm afraid) from the issue dated 6th November 1971.

It is very much of my interes!! I'm taking it! XDDD.
She used to do a lot of fashion for magazines as Sissi, and figurines for Can Can, etc. before she started with the strips.
I was in her studio last March and I took pictures of her paintings there. They are absoooooolutely fabulous!!
will look up for them and put them up here!

I cannot match those examples Ruth! Here are some more examples of her work, two internal pages, plus a cover which you would have seen in the Specials section.

Thanks! I did know the last two as they were used for covers in Princess Tina and in some Specials in Spain, but hadn't seen the first one.
Purita gives painting clases now, so I was able to see some of her pupils artwork too, they were very good, so she must be a very good art teacher.
Will post some more paintings later on. She illustrated the covers for some books of the Brönte Sisters.

The painting of a woman staring out to sea is beautifully painted. Do you know if Purita used oils for it Ruth?
Not in the same league I'm afraid, but here's another one of her fashion centre-spreads from the issue of
Princess Tina dated 25th September 1971.
(I love that decorative motif in the top left corner!

They're the only two I can find. Most of the other fashion spreads used photographic models.

I discover this topic and I am delighted. I just read quietly. I love Purita Campos.
