Pretty much anything's possible, isn't it, with modern technology!?
What I meant was something that you could actually roll up like newspaper. I forget where I heard about it, but I did, and I don't think it's that far off from becoming a reality.

I don't see why not Ginger---I'm sure somebody somewhere is working on this idea as we speak-----unrolling a sheet of flexible celuloid [or something]--essentially a responsive computer screen------- that screened unlimited or extensive comics material/ visually anything else [presumably all in ultra-hi-res in the future] sounds a lot more desirable than what we have today.

sadly, yes, I can see digitalized comics ruling the roost. Novels are being read on the laptop on a greater scale, and the hardback copy is waning. I suppose I'm spitting in the wind where paper comics are concerned. But, strangely, I see that vinyl records are actually making a comeback of some sorts against all odds. That fills me with confidence that, somewhere along the line, paper comics will always have a home even when we crustys have long gone. Think about it - we are habitually touchy-feely... the touch, the smell of the real thing... hmm. At least real comics won't crackle with constant reading.

On the 'touchy-feely' front I was thinking along these lines just this afternoon while looking through a copy of Captain WE Johns' Kings of Space in a local Oxfam shop, and I was rather shocked to realize that there was a period in my lifetime when no reasonable-minded person would have scoffed at the notion of dinosaurs on Mars! Since those days our understanding of the universe has increased exponentially, and yet there seems to be something curiously cerebral about that knowledge compared to all the discoveries of the past: it's almost as though my generation has witnessed the end of a centuries-long tradition of physical exploration - the age of Magellan, Shackleton and Armstrong - and the inauguration of a brand-new age of virtual discovery.

I think the existence of Dinosaurs [for example] were only discovered in the late 19th Century: relatively recently, in the grand scale of the geological clock.

That [the skeletons] must have been quite a discovery!

Many people believed there were creatures on the Moon until the late 60s when Man landed there [oh well, maybe they are just hiding from us, if they've any sense!]

I think fossilized dinosaur bones had been noticed long before the nineteenth century - especially in China where people commonly associated them with dragons.

In some ways the first moon landing dealt a near-fatal blow to our sense of wonder that it took years to recover from. Like nearly everyone else I remember staying up late for the momentous event and the sense of anticlimax was almost overwhelming. Where were all the mooncalves and Selenites???

Archaeology as a science appeared in the 19th century but fossils were known of and found much earlier and were used as the basis for many legendary creatures.

If this is indeed true, it sure puts it all into perspective

I used to lecture in evolution and archaeology. Fascinating stuff. It's amazing how much evidence was missed simply because it was beyond the belief system. Can't altogether blame them. With so little to go on, they relied on what was thought to be the most reliable: the presumed word of God.

Of course, many did question it, from da Vinci to Leclerc, but there's only so far they could go with times the way they were.

Didnt find anything on the Moon? Are you crazy? Everyone knows it was all hushed up by NASA and the CIA. Or is this more misinformation you're deliberately putting out? Are you one of them !!!!

The 1969 Moon Landing was in all liklihood a mock-up fake set of a fictional Moon, that fooled the World.

No, the old 'mocked up photos' story was just a clever hoax in itself, intended to prevent the public from guessing the mind-blowing truth of what they really found on the Moon - something so incredible that the world's governments decided to keep it secret forever!

In fact I've discovered that the Moon isn't a dead ball of rock at all but £@£$%%^ &*())(*^$ %@!!!!_)_*^$E!!$%^$@ %&*)_+++(&^%£$@£ $%%^^^ ^&IIIU............................................

Apparently the Moon is drifting away from our planet, oh ever so slowly it will take a few millions years but it will have implications on the tides, the seasons etc, since the rotation of the Earth will become wobbly without the stabilizing presence of the Moon.
