Not at all Mike. They're open to ideas for contributions on comics of any era. In previous issues I've contributed an article on the history of UK humour comics (leading off the feature with a full page Ally Sloper cover from 1892) and one on British superheroes prior to Captain Britain. I'll be writing one on a 1960s strip for issue 7.

So you was reading 2000AD when you was five years old then? I thought it was aimed at an older demographic than that, even when it first launched.

I think kids of around 10-13 were its target audience when it started.

As I thought, and a 10 year old in 1977 would be 43 or 44 now.

When it first came out, I was eight, so I'll let you all do the maths... There were several of us that were 2000AD fans. Whether many of us kept up with it is another story. So, if we were outside the target audience then so be it. But as many of our alternatives seemed pretty lame at the time, it's no real surprise that we latched on to it as quickly as possible. I still remember having those biotronic stickers on my arm and they hurt like anything when you ripped them off! And the Ian Kennedy Vulcan is still one of my favourite pieces of his vast output. It just looked so fast.

From Amazon this morning. Daniel Tatarsky's Dan Dare - The Biography. I already have his interesting 2004 book Flick To Kick - an illustrated history of Subbuteo so I decided to give his take on the Pilot of the Future a whirl. Also in the parcel The Best Of The Victor - 50th Anniversary Edition. As I have the complete run of this story paper, I don't really need it but I thought I might as well see what all the fuss was about.

This lot only cost me 50p, dates ranging from '78-'82. I'd second the previous comments about eBay - it's absolutely fantastic.
