What comics did you buy today?

They had Beezer no. 1 on ebay which finished last night - it went for £21. There were no bids until about 20 seconds from the end when two people bid. I was put off by the condition.

Another high grade copy of Beezer No. 1 + free gift sold yesterday for £800 with a single bidder paying the asking price.

i thought i had won a few years of roy of the rovers and 1-3 of plug on e bay recently until people put bids in about 20 secs from the end it has happened to me far to often on the few short weeks i have been using ebay 7 it is annoying but i did win 25 iss of cracker last week with about 13 secs to spare but to be honest i dont think much of it but istill want to try & complete the set

Well yesterday I got yet another yearly volume of Chums, this time 1898-99.

I also recently got a couple of Campfire Comics, which are from India but well worth a look. Many of them are adaptions of classic stories (though with a few more left-field and obscure choices than the likes of Classical Comics...). They also produce stories adapted from Mythology and original titles too!

You are not the only one. It's happened to me a few times in the last nine months I've been collecting comics.

And with the time difference for me, it makes it more frustrating.

Issue 111 of The Vanguard Library from 1909, in very knackered and crumbly condition.

It's in the vein of the Harmsworth story papers Union Jack and Halfpenny Marvel, but it's format is about 10 years behind what those looked like in 1909. Mind you so is it's price, a halfpenny compared to the penny they had been increased to.

I dunno. 20 seconds from end of auction? It's quite easy to "snipe" much closer than that without any special software.

Yes, it is only common sense to bid as close as possible to the end of an auction. I always bid five seconds from the end. Occasionally I don't win the item, but I don't use any software such as Auction Sniper. I simply rely on my alarm clock, which has a sweep second hand, and an earlier check to see exactly when the relevant auction finishes in relation to the second hand.

Yesterday I got a Sexton Blake Library from (possibly) the 40's, one from the 50's and a Schoolgirl's Picture Library from the 60's XD

Oh yeah and 2000AD because I liked the title "What The Hitler Saw"!

We spent a few days in Manchester and found a bookstall in the city centre with a box of old (late 40's - early 50's) British comics. Not having much cash left by this time, I bought 10 copies of Tip Top and 10 copies of Chips. The Chips all have Paul Power and his Speed Shell and it's a great s.f. strip. Wasn't there a G.G. Swann Speed Shell strip?
I'm sure I have an example of it but haven't turned it up yet.
The other things I bought at the bookstall were 3 Tubby Haig pulps. The guy told me he had not long sold piles of Dixon Hawke libraries. I always seem to just miss stuff.

today i got a near complete run of 1980s dandys just 90 short with quite a few doubles as well & a load od 80s beanos well happy with that result + i have to pay for a load 90s dandys next week
