Rover the Dog in the Channel 4 children's series Chips Comic starring the son of Harry ...Andy Secombe dressed as a dog it showed them making a young kids comic...a very fun program..

I do vaguely remember a sitcom about a cartoonist though (i seem to recall that for some reason he would only ever draw with a hand puppet on). Can't remember the name though, or who was in it

Was that ITV comedy not called 'All in the Family' or something...it was pretty lame I thought, and you seldom saw any of the cartoon drawings.

A better bet with a cartoonist as the central theme was the 60s film 'How to Murder your Wife' with Jack Lemmon as a cartoonist 'playboy'; loads of elaborate comics imagery, and still a very watchable film.

All in the Family was American, and based on the BBC sitcom Till Death Us Do Part. Doesn't sound like that.

A bit but hello everybody, I'm a newbie to the forum! Quite a few people I recgonize from The Beano, The Dandy, and the like. Anyhow, going back on-topic, there was a programme you might or might not watched in the 1990's called Zzzap!, made for ITV by Meridian and The Media Merchants (who also did Art Attack). Zzzap! was a comic book that was brought to life (literally), and ran for 8 years from 1993 to 2001. Here's the opening titles of the first series from the first episode, it features many iconic comics of the time including Rainbow, Monster in my Pocket, Playdays, The Beano, Buster, and Stingray. More to the point - what did the artist do to poor old Barney Bulldog of Sparky fame! Bill Ritchie would be turning in his grave.

As well as on TV/Film one British comic famously featured on an LP cover! This was the album "Bluesbreakers Featuring Eric Clapton" (1966) The LP sleeve shows the John Mayall group lined up with Eric reading a copy of the Beano. The LP has become unoficially known as `The Beano` LP.

The only other instance I can recall, a US comic image (And this is going off subject a bit-sorry!) is the 1968 Pink Floyd LP "A Saucerful of Secrets" The cover is a collage of images-but a scene from "Strange Tales No 158" (July 1967) in where Dr Strange is shown a theoretical future fate of planet Earth by a bieng known as `The Living Tribunal`
