Has anyone else heard about the 'Doctor Who' annual being recalled because of a typo on the front? Apparently it got all the way to print and distribution with the title being 'Doctor Hwo'?

:?

Not strictly true - the typo is on the spine and it hasn't mis-spelled Doctor Who (since they just use the standard logo for that") they have in fact cocked-up the word "official" on the spine, saying something like "offcal" or some such. There are pictures on Outpost Gallifrey, if you dare venture there!

Fabulous book which I'm sure you'll find well worth the wait. Watkins before he became 'Watkins' in many ways. The strips reprinted in the book date from 9th Aug 1936 on page 3 right through to 10 Mar 1940 on page 93 so a marvellous cross-section of delights from nearly four years of 'Fun Section' strips.

The "Doctor Who storybook" is apparently good. Though i hear the official Doctor Who annuals are rubbish, reprints of strips from the Adventures comic that are barely a month old XD

From looking at Horrible Histories it looks like reprints from the books mixed in with puzzles...so not so good...

Qi annual on the letter E..... e.g like Elm tree written by Clive Anderson...Edible (how to cook an unusual animal) by Jeremy Clarkson...Alan Davis on Essex...

cover looks like The Beano with the panel dressed and drawn Beanoy..
looks fun to read....I like the program a lot...my kind of humour.. :)
This annual is more like it.....and not dumbed down.....
I'd say the book is for teenagers and upwards...a small bit of swearing in the book...though not a Viz book
Nice to see a different kind of annual...also got cartoons in it...

There looked to be quite a lot of comic strips in it that I hadn't seen before. There's a two page strip about Guy Fawkes, for example, that isn't in The Slimy Stuarts, although the cartoon about him on the next page is from that book. It could be a reprnt from another source, though: I never saw the magazine, for example.

The QI Annual doesn't seem to have any comic strips in it, though it does have cartoons.

I noticed that Waterstones had a reprint of the 1959 Rupert Bear annual.
